How many clothes freers are into piercing and tattoos? I have always fancied having my ear pierced but that's about it, hate pain and never got around to it! Believe you need to keep sleeper in for about 6 weeks to stop hole closing up again, not sure how that would go down at work!

barebum, this is another one of those subjects that keep coming up and are beaten to death.
The debate to follow will be informative, though not as one would hope.
Human nature will put forth.
I don't give a flying rat's arse about piercings on (or should I say in) another person ... as they say here "that's they's bizness!", but some do, and they will voice that opinion even if you do not wish them to.
Personally, I have never harbored any desire for piercing(s) nor tattoo(s), and as such I have neither. My view is ... you want it, you get it.
As to your initial question: piercings and tattoos are "OK" in naturist environments, just as blonde hair, baldness, eyeglasses, scars, oh heck, the list goes on forever, but you get the idea. The rub lies in how they are perceived by those seeing them then the aforementioned 'opinions' will come to the fore.

Two of our most common topics: Search piercing and tattoos (http://clothesfreeforums.com/eve/forums?a=search&reqWords=piercing+tattoos&exactPhrase=&optWords=¬Words=&f=all&subjectOnly=N&afterDate=&beforeDate=&authorName=&exactAuthor=Y&sortType=0&ptyp_poll=Y&ptyp_album=Y&ptyp_msg=Y&ptyp_count=3&x_display_post_details=1&groupType=1&search=Search)

Hey lets combine all the most popular topics from the forum and ask if it's ok for a man to shave his pubic hair, have a tattoo on his penis, a Prince Albert and an erection? Is it ok? :P

1) Piercings and tattoos seem to be widely accepted in most venues around Australia.(From what ive observed)
2) If nudists practice body acceptance and acceptance of others regardless of personal preference ie. tattoos, piercings, hair removal etc. etc. then i dont see why it should not be ok.
If you want piercings or tattoos then i say go for it. For someone to discriminate against a persons preference to the above i would consider to be in the wrong, in many ancient cultures tattoos and/or piercings along with body scaring and the like were considered to be a rite of passage. Although today its not commonly thought of in this way it is becoming more widely accepted.

1st the geographic location and the social mores of that location. It depends on the area you live in and whether it's conservative or more liberal in nature.
2nd the part of the body that is to be tattooed or pierced. If it is the genital region you will have more difficulty getting some to accept that the reason for the piercing or tattoo is not of a sexual nature.
3rd certain tattoos are taboo. Things of a sexual nature certain words or graphics can be seen as obscene by society.

I have one tattoo on my right arm. It's of an iguana and the tail wraps around the arm.I kept seeing the tribal arm bands and wanted something similar so a lizard seemed to be the right choice for me.

Be careful what you tattoo and what kind of tattoo it is. I once saw a guy in the ER who had "Born to Lose" tattooed on his penis--and he did!

barebum, I, for one, see the tattoo as a work of art. I have one on my left hip. The only feedback I have ever gotten was positive in nature. One thing you should all ways remember "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". So if you like it, that is all that matters.

I say, live and let live. Could care less if someone has a tattoo or piercing. My wife did notice one time a woman walking by us at our nudist resort with small rings going through both nipples and one rather large one pierced through her vaginal area. She commented to me that that woman really stood out in the crowd.. undoubtedly her intention!

I agree with Garbo, it's your body do with it what you please!!
Personally I don't have any tattoos or piercings but my wife has a tattoo. I like it but don't want one. Seen quite a few people on beaches and at swims with tats and piercings and it doesn't change the fact that they are naturists.

No piercings or tattoos here, but couldn't care less if others have them. To each his/her own. Objectively speaking, some body art can be really intriguing but some can be really lame.

I have a tongue piercing and 2 Tats -- wifey has ears and belly button pierced and no tats. Have never had anyone say anything negative about them at resorts. To each his own.

I have my left ear and left nipple peirced. Haven't been to a resort since I peirced the nipple, but I don't expect any negative reaction. Have been meaning to get a tatoo, and wanting to for years, I just haven't committed.

I was at a club in the south of england a couple of years ago when a family arrived and both husband and wife had everything pierced that could have been ! The woman had so many genital piercings they clanked as she walked !
I agree that it's up to you what you do with your body, but when you are in a FAMILY orientated naturist enviroment, genital piercings are something specifically sexual (in my view and most of the other people on holiday at that time)
The couple also spent a lot of time posing, possibly expecting something they weren't going to get...
I personally don't think that is acceptable in a family environment.
Perhaps I'm just being old fashioned...

I think it depends on the particular resort, as to how acceptable piercings and tattoos will be. At someplace like Haulover Beach, apparently anything goes, but I know some resorts ban genital jewelry. Personally, I find some tattoos and piercings disturbing, but would never tell others not to get one, and I would be reluctant to ban anything if I had a resort (maybe only if problems arose).

It seems to me that it depends on the tattoo. If it is obscene, has foul language, etc. that could be a problem.
I think the same is for piercing. If it is obscene, or there is obscene jewelry hanging from it, this could be a problem.
P.S. The human body is so beautiful. Why would you want to change the masterpiece by putting holes in it or with tattoos?

The 2 tattoo's I have are veri significant parts of my life i have my daughters name on the back of my arm and could not begin to think of a better way to honor her as my daughter i will carry her name with me always. I also have tha comedy and Tragedy mask tattoo'd on me for the ups and downs of my life. So to me tattoo's dont exactly mean you are ruining a great piece of art as much as it means you are making your body more beautiful By adding art to it. This is just my opinion.

I really love tattoos because i think it's an awesome expression of art but im not a huge fan of exotic piercings. the normal ones are cool but i think piercings can go too far.

Years ago, I was hesitant to bring my kids down to our favorite skinnydipping swimming hole, because of one of the regulars there , had about 12 piercings on his penis and scrotum.
I didn't know how to explain it, so I just avoided it.
Found another nude spot and have been enjoying the new spot for years.

In my opinion ther is nothein wrong with either, but if the person 'exhibites' them then I have a problem. I'm happy to live and let live, but going out of their way to make them a focus is a problem and exhibistionism.
in the nudist movement we do not need this.
