I'll be attending a family reunion in July at Morro Bay, California. I see the link with directions to Pirate's Cove, south of San Luis Obispo. Is this the best C/O beach near Morro Bay? Does anyone have any advice on nude beaches in the vicinity of Morro Bay? Thanks!

alaskaroy: As far as I know, there is no other nude beaches other than Pirates Cove. But I have heard of some places north of Cayucus that people can be nude along the beach, but I can not say for sure. One day, I hope to find out for sure. There are a lot of cars parked along the side of the road, and the walk is a little long, but I can not say for sure if these people are nude or not.

Pirate's Cove is by far the best nude beach around the area. I July you will be lucky to see the sun, except in San Luis Obispo. Other places are Montanna De Oro State Park just south of Morro. Lots of deserted stretches of beach. But again, Pirates is the best, protected from the wind and has little surf. Farther south is Gaviota, near Santa Barbara, nice secluded, not too many people, but the last time I was there I was aproached by a gay male for sex. NOT COOL!
Good luck on getting a sunny day in Juyl...could happen!

Hello: According to the information that I have there are three CO beaches in the Moro Bay Area. The one that I have been to and love is Pirates Cove. It is a great Family Oriented Beach. Check out the fol;lowing link for directions and more information.

Hope this helps. Remember "Leave No Trace" and "Pack it In and Pack It Out" (in fact more trash than you bring in will keep this palce Beautifl)

Thanks for the tip! I thought I'd already looked at this site, but I hadn't found the map. THAT helps IMMENSELY.

Glad that I could be of help. As I said, as well as others, Pirates Cove is a GREAT beach. I have been there a number of times and have ALWAYS left at the end of the day having had a good time and met great people. It is a family beach with few gawkers. It also seems that there is NO hassle factor there. When you go PLEASE bring a bag so that you can pick up litter on the way out. From what the "regulars" have told me, litter is can be a problem (though I have NEVER seen much there) and they work HARD at keeping this area clean.

On the main road to the beach there is a great hottub/spa called Sycamore Hot Springs. They have tubs all over the hillside. Great area to warm up/chill out after the beach.

Have a great time in the Central Coast Area.

nordactoad: Is Sycamore Hot Springs the springs just on the north side of Pirates Cove on the bend? We saw one, but it was late in the day. Also, is it c/o? Would like to know, for next times trip. I, too, am curious about other c/o beaches in the Morro Bay vicinity. Pirates Cove is about 20 miles away. I was told that there was one just on the south of San Simeon, but when we went, it was too cold and windy. It is also about 20 to 30 miles away.

I did notice that there were several spots on the way, north of Cayucos, but again, it was too cold to see if they were c/o. Maybe next time, we'll have more time to "survey" the area.

Hello HW and others:

Sycamore Hot Springs is on the South (left) side of the main road to Avila. They rent individual tub and therefore c/o is up to you. It has been a while since I have been there, though I drive by it every time I go to Pirates Cove. I will stop next time and get more information.

As for other beaches in the area, I have not had much luck finding any. Let me know if any of you have suggestions. I go to Pirates Cove as much as I can. I have NEVER had a bad time there and even "witnessed" a wedding there on one trip.

With our current weather, Snowing in the Central Sierra tonight, who knows when I will make it there. Drop me a Private Message if you two are going over there some time.

Hope the above helps out.
