The ratings we can give other users seem to be permanent. The rating box disappears and some text appears in its place. What if I change my mind and decide to give someone a different rating? Can we have it set up where we are allowed to change these ratings? Or have I missed a link somewhere?

GOOD QUESTION, if we goof up when giving someone a rating, that becomes permanent as well. i like this idea!!!

How important are ratings anyhow? Are we more apt to read someones post because they are 5star.?...Would someone leave the forum because they received no stars?...I think not... /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

A number of people have complained about the rating system - I have chosen to disable the feature, so I don't know or care whether you think I am a ***** (pun intended) or a 0 - the text can speak for itself, and me. /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Great Idea Mark,

Besides what real purpose do rating serve anyway...We all have days where our posts are gonna simply be better than others, or whoever reads them, will be more likely to read them for content than others...and frankly there are some who posts in here, I ignor completely...ratings have no impact on my decision on whether or not I would read what they have to say /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

What good are the ratings? They're simply a popularity contest. If people like what you write, they vote for you. If they don't, they won't. They don't know you personally and just judge you by what you write, and the opinions and beliefs you express.

Looks like we have a split of opinions regarding whether the ratings feature is something we want to have at all. With that in mind, I will make this statement:

If we want to eliminate the ratings altogether, fine. Most people will probably agree that it won't take much away from the forum experience. But if we want to keep the feature, I would like to see it implemented fully, with the ability to change ratings.
