My wife and I have made plans to go to Rio de Janeiro in March. Can anyone tell me are the nude beaches anywhere near Rio?

Unless you have a totally wonderful body you may not want to appear in even a swimming costume on the beach in Rio ! I don't think there's any naturist in the beach in the city.

We escaped for a couple of nights to a small port called Parati a few hours to the south of Rio. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, a charming colonial village with wonderful posadas and restaurants.

It is possible to charter a yacht on an hourly basis and go cruising through the islands and come to some wonderful beaches. We did this on a couple of days - expensive but worthwhile.

As soon as the boats left the harbour area I asked if the owners had any hesitaion in us going nude - neither did and one actually had an allover tan anyway ! We spent both days completely nude, snorkelling and going to a small island with a hopelessly romantic beach.
