Rising sons and daughters get naked as J-birds (http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/waiwai/news/20070830p2g00m0dm002000c.html)
This gives me another reason to like the Japanese(besides ninjas, anime, sumo wrestling, and samurai http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif).

I would say "interesting article" until I got to the part where the man likes to fart because he is naked! I also think it a bit too much to show his "odd shaped turds" to his girlfriend; but then he is cheating on his wife so I guess the GF deserves this http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

WOW! I'm impressed and surprised. The reason for the surprise is that I see so few Japanese, or other Asians, at the beach, nude swims, or clubs.

I really dont think the article does much to promote nudism unless we are looking forward to a bunch of farters on the beach obsessed with looking at strange feces.

I'd say the article was mixed. That one guy was crude, we could have done without him, but otherwise it was alright. I liked the bit about the young professional women stripping down at home both to beat the heat and to shed their "suits of armor" for their own comfort. That part was nice.

Hello jon71. I agree with you. The crude guy we could definitely do without. He would serve no positive purpose for the nudist movement at all. But the rest of the article was very enlightening and interesting.

I just scanned this story from a source seen before reading here, and posted in my Yahoo Newsgroup. On reading it fully in my group I deleted it! Hope nobody noticed!

Normally I don't like to cut and paste articles. But in this case I guess I should have, that way I could have left out the offensive part. Still, aside from that part, I thought this article as a whole was positive.

No matter how oddly-shaped my feces is, I just quietly flush it down the toilet. And if anyone asked me to look at their crap floating in the toilet, I would turn them down vehemently http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sick.gif
I agree, taking out the adulterer/farting guy, it was a good article.

Singer Sun Plaza Nakano has romped around naked at home for the past decade. So THAT'S it!! It's singing that causes one to "romp around" at home!

I remember hearing a few years ago, that with Japan's chronic overcrowding, and high population density, one way for Japanese people to cope was this one aspect of their culture - where the Japanese can look at nudity at times, but not actually see it [or should that be the other way round? Maybe I should have said that they don't notice it ?].
Just think of their public bath houses - where everyone goes nude, compared to those they make available to westerners, that are segregated...

Then again, they do have strip clubs there as well - so there must be that frustrated and voyeuristic section of the population, as well..

Still, I think the Japanese would be a couple of steps closer to accepting nude beaches, and maybe some (though still limited..) public nudity.

I live in Japan for an extended period of time. Their public baths are ALWAYS segregated for bathing purposes and has nothing to do with westerners. A male may go into the female side to talk and relax with a family member. Females are NEVER allowed into the Male side. Even when a male does go into the female side he will NOT get into the bathing tub. In Japanese culture its an affront to a Man to bath in the same water a female has been in. just to stress these are not my views but a cultural thing

Next Monday, as a matter of fact. However, I doubt the beach shown is "just outside" Tokyo. It looks a bit too tropical and unspoiled. Most beaches within spitting distance of Tokyo are lined with concrete wave breakers (a.k.a. dolos or tetrapods). If anyone can pinpoint the location of said beach, I've got a Japan Rail Pass to get me anywhere in Japan. I'll check it out.
On the subject of Japanese hot springs and public baths, however, I can provide some enlightenment. There are a number of mixed ("konyoku") venues if you get out into rural areas of Japan. If you follow the link to the provider of the video, all but two of the videos he's posted are of "konyoku" hot springs. In my experience, I've never been barred from a hot spring, "konyoku" or not. Unfortunately, I have heard of some in Hokkaido that have banned foreigners because of the unseemly conduct of some merchant marines.
If you ever do visit Japan, take time to learn about the customs associated with communal bathing before going to a hot springs. Just as you would be aghast at someone sitting down without a towel, there are definite rules of etiquette in Japanese communal bathing and your fellow bathers will take exception to your violating them.
The Western concept of nude recreation doesn't exist in Japan. On the other hand, communal bathing at hot springs and public baths is a socially acceptable practice. I shy away from discussions of nude recreation at home in the US, but anyone I've ever worked with in Japan is aware that I visit hot springs and public baths every chance I get. In fact, I've gone to hot springs with work colleagues as well as other Japanese friends. There is an idea that "skinship" is the way to truly know a person. Hmmm...sounds familiar.

freehiking up Fuji!! You might as well go free hiking downtown Tokyo! Fujii is nearly as crowded. I have a picture-I can't find it right now-taken at 3am on Fujii and there is a continuous line of people, even at that early hour, climbing the mountain. There is a carnival atmosphere up on the top. You can buy your meals and souvenirs on the top. There are even phone booths to call from.

I agree with you, HadakaNoOtoko, it certainly isn't anywhere near Tokyo. It's like saying that there is an isolated beach in spitting distance of New York City. It *might* be in Okinawa but I doubt that either. My guess that it is actually on Guam. Guam is very popular with Japanese newlyweds. The cliffs in the background and the vegetation resemble couple of rather isolated beaches that I know of there. (p.s. don't ask me for the names, it has been too long since I was there-nearly 30 years)
