So there's been some talk on here about inflated prices, compromised ideals, and some of the general shortcomings of large upscale resorts.

Large resorts offer luxury, larger crowds, more variety, etc. But have a business-first feel.

Smaller resorts have much less as far as amenities go, but offer more familiar faces and more membership influence on policy.

Which do you prefer? ....and why?

I've been to both, and I prefer the small, more rustic resort. First, rustic resorts have a "close to nature" feel that I appreciate; I want to heget away from the "real world" as much as possible. The second thing is that the smaller resorts foster a more intimate environment; it is almost impossible not to make friends at some of the resorts I've visited. Lastly, nudity tends to be more respected in smaller venues; I guess it's because if you can't go anywhere without running into and talking with nude people, you're eventually going to feel like joining in.

I've only been to two resorts so far. The Terra Cotta, and Living Waters. At both my wife & I have really really enjoyed ourselves. Its a more personal touch with the owners there.

From talking with people who have been to the larger resorts, it is a more business-like atmosphere. I'd rather relax and be pampered with smaller resorts.

I've been to both and I would have to say they both have their place.

There are times when I enjoy going to a large 1st class club like La Gunna Del Sol, and there are just as many times that I prefer to go to a small mom and pop place with more rustic accomodations but in a very beautiful natural setting.

I guess since I am not much of a night person I would go for a more rustic location as long as they had RV camp sites. I enjoy going for nude hikes more than I do going to dances and parties so that's my choice. That being said I would love to go back to L.D.S. sometime.

I've also been to both and prefer a large resort because there's more room for walking and riding a bicycle, and there's more things to do.

Having only visited a few, so far I've found that each has had something I particularly liked, that another may not have had, and vice-versa.

A resort that is large in acreage is not necessarily priced out of reach of the working family.

I prefer the camaraderie of the numerically smaller parks, but I am definitely pleased if they happen to have lots of natural acreage to explore.

I do have to admit that although I like a large resort, one of the best ones I've been to was only about 45 acres and EXTREMELY friendly--Serendipity Park. It has been voted the most friendly 3 times! Another very friendly one was also small--Forest Hills Club. Maybe there's something to a smaller one being friendlier than the large ones.

I'm glad to hear your positive comments on Serindipity. I am hoping to visit it someday.

Having just returned from a 5 day stay at Lake Como...even though it is not really small but a little more rustic, I must say I prefer smaller resorts. The people there were very friendly and I think it provides for a nice vacation.

I prefer the less upscale parks. I love Carolina Foothills just north of Spartanburg in Chesnee, SC - lots of walking trail, very much enjoy Cedar Creek just west of Columbia, SC in the Leesville/Batesburg/Pelion area and Whispering Pines just over the SC border in the Shallotte, NC area. Serendipity and Bell Acres about an hr. from Atlanta are relaxing places to be as well. I've been to over 50 parks, resorts, and beaches during the 37+ years of enjoy nudism/naturism and have my favorites across the US. If I were able to travel more, I'd probably come up with a new favorite.

Wish I had known you were at Como! I have a membership there and I'm practically right down the street. Would have been cool to meet a fellow CFF member.

Hey Doug...I didn't even think about mentioning it here on the board. I intend to get back down there again sometime soon. I will let you know, it would be great to meet other CFF members.

I tend to like smaller places better, mostly because they attract a regular crowd as opposed to tourists. This gives you much more of a community feel as you make friends and such.

Now I am having the opportunity to see a small club become a "business" with detrimental effects. I've been a member of one of those big resorts, Paradise Lakes, for years. When I came to Atlanta for work in 2004, I automatically chose Paradise (Hidden) Valley, which had just been bought by Pardaise Lakes.

We now have a cool clubhouse. But we can't bring coolers or food. Next year we may have new condos, but will lose a lot of trees. It seems there isn't a balance of values vs. business, and I would say attendance at Paradise Valley is down by HALF! In transforming the club into a resort, it seems like the things that made it successful are being wiped out http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Besides Atlanta Runner, who I expect has a lot to say on this subject, anyone else see this change at PV??

My wife and I have been there a few years back a few times(PV) in north Georgia, and I liked it then, but have been keeping up with the changes, and kinda expected its lost some of its down home feel , with its growth.I hope to go see for myself sometime soon.

I actually voted for bigger resorts for two reasons:
1. More people our age seem to attend the bigger ones rather than the smaller ones.
2. There is alot more to do at the bigger resorts than the smaller ones-i.e. Caliente or Paradise Lakes.
However, we are members of a small club in North Florida, but there are few, and I stress few, things to do there, and there are few young members that attend.
