Everyone -
1. What exactly is a "full time nudist" ?
I saw somewhere on the forum that the poster said he/she was striving to be one. So far I have only managed about 36 hours non stop nudity (of course including sleep) - that is certainly NOT full time.
2. How many hours continious non stop (not even shorts to answer the door) nudity have you all achieved ?
3. Lets have more stories about being "sprung" in the buff.
I was naked on my backhoe digging a new sewer line at the side of my house when non nudist friends arrived for a swim - nobody even commented, they just had their swim and left.

Twenty hours and forty-two out of forty-eight. I live on a busy street and even took the trash out. Of course it was late and dark, but nonetheless.
I've never been sprung, I don't think.

I think the only time you can be "full time" nude is when you live at a nudist park or resort, like Caliente or Paradise Lakes, etc.
But you would have to get dressed eventually, so I don't know how you could be a full time nudist.
We are just nudists, some days we can be nude more than others. Longest time nude...4 days straight. We were at Club Orient in St. Martin. We would have stayed naked longer but thought since it was our first visit we should see the rest of the island.
We plan a return trip in June '04 and hope to stay nude the entire time there. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
Regarding being sprung in the nude...I am guessing you mean being caught? Been caught twice by our neighbors. They know we are nudists, they could see us through the cheap wooden fencing we had before the block walls went up. I pushed that envelop and was loading my car one morning and was seen by the male neighbor. Then about 2 weeks ago, I was unloading my car and thought I had pulled the car into the garage enough but didn't and stepped outside to get into the drivers seat and wouldn't you know it, she drove up and probably saw me. It was a quick glance but nonetheless I was seen. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

My longest time nude was about 37 hours straight over a weekend and then about 14 hours per day for 5 days. My kids were on Spring Break so with them away, I did not have to get dressed except for work and on the weekend, not at all. Boy what a great feeling that was not having to take precautions and just enjoying life free from textiles.
As far as being caught, I don't think so but I am nude alot in my backyard in the summer so it is possible that I have been seen over my fence. My one neighbor's windows are pretty high up on their house. But if they had seen, no one has ever called the police.

I consider myself a full time nudist but I don't think that putting something on to get to the mailbox would disqualify someone. Even someone living in a resort has to go out for food and errands now and then.
I spend over 20 hours a day nude on average, and sometimes go days with only a minute or two clothed to answer the door or to go out to the car for something or get the mail.

Longest time nude at a club= 72 hours of glorious non clothedness!
Longest time nude at home= 48 hours over a long weekend. Would have been longer, but had to take a trip to the in-laws on Sunday.
Longest time nude while driving= 3.5 hours! Okay, sure...it was night, and I wasn't driving, but I was nude in the passenger seat!
Getting caught? Um, I'd rather not discuss that...let's just say it involved some jail time and a $100 fine.

In warm weather (approx. April thru October here in Va), I'm nude usually from dawn to dusk except for when I have to go out shopping or bowling or on volunteer work. In winter, I'm nude on most of my hikes down below and often out in the sun in the afternoons washing the vehicles or whatever.
My most revealing "sprung" shot was when I walked half way to the post box before taking my hike (nude, always even down to 40 F). Heard the postal wagon. So, I stepped into our parking area out of sight of the cul-de-sac at the end of our street. Next thing I know, the postal wagon is coming up our driveway. She parks it right in front of our garage door. I stand there debating what to do and finally just go over to the postal van. She hands me my package. I put it inside. Then she hands me my mail. Then she gets into the van, back up and head back out the driveway and waves and wishes me a good day.
Another time, I was getting my mail nude (not many folks around at mid day). Heard a car coming towards the cul-de-sac. Turned my back. It was my neighbor. Saw her drive past and down her driveway, which is almost right off the end of the cul-de-sac.
Another time, I was taking some mail to the post box at night. Saw some car lights. Went off to the side of the driveway, which was common to the last neighbor before this new one put in a new drive. Turned my back.
The van full of kids stopped just past me when one little kid yelled, "He's nekkid!" Mom looks out the side window at me and then drives them on it. Heard the kid yelling to his grandmom when they got down below to her house about the "nekkid" man.

WOW I do envey some of you lot, though I do get it pretty good.
Summer, sleep nude, shower nude, (I state that in case Stu is watching), breakfast nude, a few jobs around the house, get firewood (we use a wood fuel kitchen stove even in summer) - then unfortunatly dress for work in an office.
After work, arrive home about 7.00pm , if a hot day a swim then nude until dinner - I usually "dress for dinner" not black tie as my English grandfather would have done but shorts only. After a bit of TV a long "NNW", (nude night walk) around the farm. An experiance not to be missed if you visit us. Beautiful clear sky, kangaroos hopping about, sometimes wombats, weird bird calls, occasional dingos howling. Nights of full moon with no torch. If very hot having a quick swim before bed. NNWs are one of the best experiances this and every summer.
Weekends are even better

I'd currently distinguish between a nudist and naturist based upon the amount of time they spend in the nude. I'm a naturist, in that I don't spend enough time in the nude, and far too little time in nudist gatherings.
A few years ago, I visited Deer Park in CA and met a few of the residents who, to me, defined nudists. They live nude. They of course said that clothes became a necessity when going into town to buy food and take care of other of life's necessities. But while at Deer Park they were nudists...all of the time. That is a nudist.
In that context I am a naturist, not a nudist. But it is being a nudist to which I aspire. In the meantime, I'll accept being a naturist.

If you really think about it, couldn't you be a full time nudist, by definition, if that is your primary life stile?
For example, students are considered full time students if that is their primary duty/responsibility even if they work part time. An employee is considered a full time employee if the work for 30 or more hours a week. So if you are nude for 30 or more hours a week and that is your primary life style, I believe you can call yourself a full time nudist. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I'm nude more than 160 hours per week, and there's only 168 hours in a week.

jon-marc, did you shave your beard?
Yes, I shaved my beard. I know my face looks fatter, and I look older, but I got tired of my chin itching from the beard. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Very good point Gary, but perhaps there are other considerations.
For example I certainly am nude for more than 30 hours per week but I do not think it is my primary life style. I work amongst textiles 9am to 6.30pm and there are many other times of everyday life that I must wear clothes. Surely therefore, even though I may think I would prefer to be naked all the time (temperature permitting) I feel the my primary life style is is fact textile but I still say I am a nudist.
Even though I SAY I would prefer to be naked all the time I am not sure how I would go being naked (if it was possible considering others) all day in the office. Of course i have not tried it.
Also I still feel uncomfortable if I am naked in the company of clothed people. On a beach with clothed and unclothed people is no problem but I mean at home with friends, in the kitchen amongst clothed people or sitting at the dinner table being the only naked person. Does that make me not a true nudist because I am not totally relaxed with nudity.
The contributor (I am sorry I did not note his name) who went to a fancy drees party "dressed up" as a nudist did feel a little awkward or embarrased but that was a very brave thing to do and he certainly deserves a medal.
How does everyone else feel when with a small group of people and most or all others are clothed.
Does the true full time nudist not care or is it a slighty awkward situation ?

PS - TXK Nude , your logo has a beard , do you ? Next thing there will be complaints about hats and shoes.

at dinner, I did notice one day,
that company had joined the fray!
I hurried up and made the roast,
If i wasnt done, i'd be toast!
they all came in and looked surprised
they s******ed at the thing I prized
My nudity, I had forgot
I left my clothes on the cot!
I rolled my eyes and sat at the table,
to get my clothes, I was not able
all my friends, had on expensive duds
I sighed over all my conservative buds
But at that time, I started to choke,
I sputtered spagetti sauce, and downed a coke.
when I looked up I started to s******
because of my cooking skill was nil, my vengence was bigger.
for they had also choked, but for me, who could clean myself with the swipe of a towel,
When my company saw their dry cleaning bill, they would howl.

OZJames, I understand your point. I also have to work among textiles for 40 hours per week. However, when at home, I am nude about 95% of the time in the spring, summer and fall. The house gets a little cool to be nude during the winter. The cost of heating this old house prohibits raising the thermostat any higher. I usually just were sweats with nothing underneath. I still consider myself a full time nudist because that is my preferred state of dress.
As far as being around clothed people while I'm nude, that hasn't really bothered me. Both of my children have been at my house fully dressed while I was nude. In October, I was at DeAnza Springs resort for their Halloween party. My costum was some face paint, a black drackula cape and some fangs, nothing else. Several people at the party were fully clothed in their costums. The 4 days I was there, there were clothed people around. I was nude the entire time I was at the resort. Including while hiking in the surrounding area. Also I have been to Angel Falls, at Bass Lake when my wife and I were the only nude people there. Several textiles were passing by where we were at.

Thanks Gary,
"I have been to Angel Falls, at Bass Lake when my wife and I were the only nude people there. Several textiles were passing by where we were at."
But were you totally relaxed or were you A BIT selfconsious or uncomfortable in that you didnt know what they thought or would do ?
soofreeemateomanian do you paint abstract paintings ? If not then you should. Keep up the poems, I love them

when I opened my mouth in the morning to eat
It felt like it was full of peat
I glugged down a gallon of water
jeez what did have for dinner last night, roast otter?
I ran to the office, quick as the speed of light
grrrr! my coffee was on the papers from last night
my client came in and stared at me
she seemed as stiff as a tree
suddenly I realized one morning step i had forgotten
without my pants or underwear around the office I had been trottin!

I was completely relaxed, however, my wife was a little edgy. She kept looking around to see who was coming every time she heard someone. She was a little apprehensive about the possibility of the police coming by. It was our first time at Bass Lake.
