85, overcast, humid and windy. No spring for Texas this year. Red buds, dogwoods, ornamental pears, tulip trees and azaleas in full bloom.

I'll be mowing by next weekend.

Quite right grl, but you have got to admire the determined nature of people who are committed nudists in North of North America and in Canada and even Alaska. Reading about the temperatures that nudists endure in those places makes my spine shiver.

It was about 81 this afternoon. But a big cold front is coming and in 48 hours the overnight temperature will drop to 35 with daytime high of only 61 F. Brrr!

Highs in the low 60's is typical for early March around here, so I can't complain.

I'll stop my whining as soon as it stops snowing!!! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

We are expecting 8 to 10 inches tonight and into the morning, with winds gusting to 35 mph.

So your going to have to wait a few more days before I stop whining.

Your spine would have definitely shivered at the temperatures here on Friday. I was walking to a restaurant about 10 min walk away. The weather network said it was -15C, which does not warrant my big coat necessarily. I got it out anyway, deciding it would be better to be overdressed than underdressed in the cold. Turned out the windchill made it feel like -30C. SO, I had my BIG downfilled parka that goes down to my knees, a polar fleece neck warmer, mitts and a hat. That was the right dress. Nudity? Not just now thanks. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/goofy.gif At least not outdoors! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/anxious.gif

It makes my heart turn all mushy when I hear that some American states have it colder than we have here in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Snow is all melted!! Snowdrops (tiny wildflowers) in the garden! Only a bit of ice left on the ponds and lakes! My gosh, we'll be running around nekkid any day now! Take that, Aussies! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/eusa_dance.gif

Journeyman,
When we were in Nova Scotia, we were told by the natives there that they get very little snow each winter, because of being surrounded by the sea humidity.

We here in the St. Louis Missouri area (mid America) had our alpine snowdrop flowers start blooming about 10 days ago, and quit flowering a few days ago. This timing seems to correlate with that of your maritine province of Canada.
We had a very mild winter this year.

Many southern Minnesota schoold were closed today due to a winter storm. Many more were running 2 hours late.

It was actually nicer in the Northern part of the state.
But a warm up is on the way. It will be above freezing by Wednesday.

LOL....well we do have indoor heating and a good fridge for the beer. A nice glass of red wine does warm the insides, either that or a cup of tea.

Thank goodness for polar fleece and warm socks!

A fridge for the beer hey. I can just see it now.

"Mavis, have you put the beer in the fridge? I don't want it freezing on us again."

-40 hey. I think I'm still coming to grips with that.

"Hey! Who left the fridge door open? You're letting all the hot air out!"

A beer fridge for certain very cold places is not unusual...I remember visiting the Ice Hotel (which melts every spring, and yes, it's a real hotel) just outside of Quebec City a few years ago. The Absolut vodka, served in hollowed cubes of ice at the hotel bar, was fine, but the beer came from a fridge as it would have totally frozen being "outside" in the inside of the Ice Hotel.

Yes, we're as crazy in Canada about our beer being the right temp as probably the Swedes and Finns.

LOL....well you don't want to leave the beer outside at -40. It will freeze and explode in a heartbeat! And yes, I suppose it is warmer in the fridge than outside!

I don't recall heat inside, except the presidential suite had its own wood stove! Each "bed" was made of wooden slats on the ice, and then covered with furs (different kinds of pelts), and then a sleeping bag. As each room was private, I'm sure one could be nude underneath all that covering, like the Inuit have done for centuries in Canada's north. Washrrom/shower facilities were in a large (heated) trailer outside of the hotel.
