Can I call myself a nudist now?

Rate this Entry
I finally did the nudist resort this summer.

It was a long time coming. And I'm glad to finally have that experience in my repertoire and off my bucket list.

I would certainly do it again, when the desire and opportunity next present themselves.

I am typically a socially reserved person, and I try to avoid large gatherings as much as I can. But, as I had anticipated may be the case, I discovered that I am much more social when in naked company. Go figure!

I've heard it said that, ironically, nudists are generally shy people. I found this to be true at the resort I visited. I am a shy person too. So maybe that's what just made it very easy to relate with so many new friends I met at the resort.

I'm a nudist, and I like it.

Interesting you say " nudists are generally shy people", never heard that before but true in my case. I was always very shy but always knew I was a nudist. Guess that's why it took me 30 years to finally go to a resort. It was great though, no turning back now. I"m actually more confident and less shy when nude and around other nude people.

So, as a shy person, are you more comfortable around people you don't know, like going to another part of the country where people probably won't know you, or do you prefer a local or regional location, where you might find people you know from your community?

I was going to go this summer too! Unfortunately, I had lousy directions and never found the place.

You did not mention where you went. There are some classic sites like Cypress Cove (one of the Cadillacs) in the Orlando area.

Hi! If you are consistently nude at home alone, or with your significant other, or have spent time nude at a nude resort, you're probably a nudist. Enjoy.

I am a person who is thinking about being a nudist. I am a home nudist with my wife but I have yet to experence nudity in a social setting. I feel very uncomfortable about taking off my clothes and walking around in flip flops carring a towel.
I am unsure of my motives. I love being without clothes but wonder if I am not just a voyouer just wanting to see what other people look like without clothes. I am scared of the male problem "erections" popping up. I am afraid that I might stare or look uncomfortably long at naked bodies of both genders. What do you say to a naked person? Is there anyone to help you overcome for lack of better words "lack of naked social skills" so as not to offend others? I quess that I have a syndrome of "Nude social anxiety" and need help. Where do I find this help when I show up for the first time at a clothing optional resort? HELP

A nudist is one who enjoys the everyday life clothesfree. Whether you are able to practice at home or with others, it doesn't matter. It's an added enjoyment if you are able to practice outdoor nudity at home or with others. There are a lot of nudists who do not have the ability to practice home nudity to the extent they may wish. Also, there are those who are confined in neighborhoods that privacy may not dictate the ability to enjoy outdoor nudity. Simply put, if you love to live life clothesfree, then you are a nudist, just not able to practice as much as you wish you could.

My situation for example, I am able to enjoy home nudity a lot, but then I live with non-nudists who are not comfortable seeing me nude. So to keep the peace, I'll cover up. In the morning hours, I'm totally nude until 'certain people' start to wake up, case in point, the Mother in Law. She has not seen me nude, but the others in the house have. My cover is a light wrap around that leaves little to the imagination, but it is accepted by everyone. Now, the backyard is a different story. I am nude all the time and everyone knows this. While in the back, I don't wear anything at all, so that is my safehaven. If I'm BBQing or if there is a swim party, then I'll cover so everyone could participate. Compromise works.
