Me too. My favorite party is talking with friends with background music that you don't have to talk over. I also love snacks (as can be seen in my abdominal region!). I like parties with snacks. I don't feel too guilty about eating since it is not an everyday event and that is what bike rides were invented for. ;-)

I don't blame the native Hawaiian's being upset, and many will continue to feel that way 100's of years from now.

Well, certainly it is always fun to have a party, it depends on what kind of party! I am a very mellow person and like an old-fashioned party where there is good food, music, and happy people of all ages.

Right. Today marks Hawaii's 50th anniversary, however there are no major celebrations becase of local Hawaiian soverign groups who are very angry about the Hawaiian land being seized by US Government back in 1890's. There were some major protests happening in Honolulu today where native Hawaiian activists waved Hawaiian flags flown upside down during a Hawaiian independence protest. And another native Hawaiian activist cut a star out of the US flag.

I'm on the Big Island, so only a couple State & local offices closed, but the US Post Ofc & banks were open. The only happening event is this Sunday where the mayor (Billy Kenoi) is giving a speech, then there will be some hula, music, singing, & vendors.
