Close Calls

I have been caught only once. I knew my mom and step father were both at work, and thought my step daughter had gone into town. I was sitting in one of the patio chairs on the back deck . Boy was I wrong. She went over to her friends house next door, and both ended up coming back to our house. I never heard or saw neither of the girls until it was too late. They were surprised, and I was beat red! Thankfully nothing was said to my parents. I believe I am the only one in the family who is a naturalist. I didn't do it again until I moved to Florida years later.

if you are going nude in your home or yard, it is inevitable that you are going to be "caught". This has happened more times than I can remember. When my daughter was still living at home she would come home early and catch me going about my daily business while nude, after she moved out she would come in unannounced and find me home and nude so now she calls first or opens the door and yells "hello" before barging in so I can go get some shorts on.
I have been seen by the UPS man, the meter reader, the mail man, the neighbors, and some of the kids friends at various points. The main thing is to not act like it is a big deal and that it is a normal thing. For the most part all the encounters have not been negative and most of the time the person who "catches" you is the one who is embarrased.

Never been caught...that I know of. My daughter did come in unexpectedly once. I just told her to go into the family room, then went upstairs to put something on.

The latest was a couple weekends ago in Maryland. Beyond the backyard where we're staying is a small forest with little path along the edge. I was out fussing in the garden when our nextdoor neighbor came down the path. Her; "Oops! Sorry!" Me:"Pardon the informality. French beach rules in the backyard on warm days. What's up?" Her: "The dogs got out again. Did you happen to see them?" Me: "I heard something and I think I saw Max going thata way." Her: "Thanks! Enjoy the sun!" Should mention that our backyard is basically private and we've talked to all the immediate neighbors about being naturists, so she wasn't really that surprised.

I've had a couple of close calls recently. Our house sits a few hundred feet from the road, and we usually use the back door due to the parking area there. Most visitors do also. A friend of the wife's has a habit of dropping by when she is in the area sometimes and usually doesn't call ahead. I was working nude in the garden when she pulled up each time, but the plants are high enough if you are down on your knees that it is hard to see you. I was able to get into the shop without being seen and put something on.

eagle is right: getting "caught" is an almost unavoidable with backyard nudity. Unless your house is strategically positionned or geographically remote. When I lived in my townhouse, even though my left-side neighbour - or his two daughters - never said anything; it's also very unlikely they never saw us. My daughter and I would have backyard fun activities; and that would often accidentally or forgetfully extend beyond the "secure point", which was the point beyond which the neighbour could see us over the fence. But because our backyard could only be reached through the house, we never had to worry about UPS or mail, etc...

But the funniest time I got caught was by my MIL. At that time she knew we'd been to the resort; but she didn't know about home nudism. I was in the bathroom, showering and getting ready for work. As I exited the bathroom nude and entered the hallway, I heard a "WOOHOO!!" coming from the living room. I did a 180 and immediately recognized my MIL - at which point I did some weird spin and hop out of the hallway and into the bedroom. My wife had failed to inform me that we had a guest! But that did prompt a conversation between my wife and her Mom, during which she explained that we were home-nudists as well as resort nudists. After that she stopped covering up when her Mom dropped by. Since I usually was on my way to work when she dropped by, she never again "caught" me.

A couple of years later, we had a "shoe on the other foot" moment. We were staying at her house, and I was hanging around the house late. I went downstairs to go to the kitchen, and that's when I saw a nude backside exiting the bathroom. She did a dash from the hallway into her bedroom, a bit reminiscent of what I'd done a couple of years earlier.

After that and the ice being broken, you'd think it would have been easy being nude around each other. But son/mother-in-law are usually complex relationships. Which in our case, wasn't conducive to being nude around each other.

Have been caught a number of times by family and friends, but the most memorable was by a neighbor. He's a retired Catholic priest who came to the back door while I was working in the kitchen. The screen door was closed, but it is actually between the house and garage. My back was to the door when he arrived and he announced himself by saying, "The nudist colony is down the street." I turned and responded that this was just so comfortable, walked to the door and we spoke for a few minutes. There was mention of another neighbor who was famous for mowing his lawn while nude, but I never have seen it. I was nude the entire time, made no effort to cover up, and there was no mention of the incident any time after that, but I am sure that other neighbors know.

At another time well after dark, I made a quick run to the car which was parked in the driveway just in time for a car to appear at the stop sign across the street. Not sure if the headlights picked me up well enough, but I was on my way back to the house already at the time.

As its been said getting "caught" is inevitable. We started off and have been home nudist since we were both divorced and got together 15 yrs ago. We live in the country and the only thing around us in the main road and a farm operation that passes near our house. Kids and company will pop in unexpectedly and the door that you thought was locked actually wasn't. No one really knew of our lifestyle even though having been walked in on a few times. It wasn't until we built a huge backyard specifically for outdoor naked time that the word got out. We were caught often by the farm help as the equipment they drive is a lot taller than our 6' privacy fence.

Many times someone would pull in the driveway and no one answered the front door so they would hike around to the back of the house and there we are! There is also a small airport a mile away and I know most the pilots that fly out of there so we do get spotted and now just ignore the fly overs.

Now that the family, friends and neighbors all know about our nudity we generally get a phone call before they come over but not always. And personally Im glad everyone knows. One particular friend and neighbor last summer forever kept 'accidentally' catching us in the backyard and apologizing all over himself. It was no accident in my book after the umpteenth time, Ive seen him check out my wife numerous times over the years when she she has clothes on, I think I can figure out this big mystery.
