Police order nude mannequins covered up
When Marcel Ellis chained together a number of undressed mannequins in his Mosta shop window with an accompanying leaflet to raise awareness about sex trafficking, little did he know what was in store.
At around 5 p.m. last Friday, two policemen walked into the DNA Emporium outlet in Eucharistic Congress Road and instructed the owners to dress up the plastic figures.

Re: Police order nude mannequins covered up
Notice the authorities used one of the oldest tricks in the book to "send a message" to everyone else in their jurisdiction. They did something about the "problem" at 5PM on Friday. They know that everything shuts down until Monday at 8AM: courts, lawyers' offices, and banks (for bail). If you are Joe the plumber, you may be stuck in a holding cell for the weekend.
Wonder if we will see a follow-up news report that they are citing the museums. After all, the museums are displaying nude pictures (pornography) and nude statues. If they charge for admittance, then it is like a sex shop. They must move away from schools and other sex shops already there.

Re: Police order nude mannequins covered up
According to article, "Mr Ellis considers the police complaint so absurd that he intends to ignore it." I applaud him for his courage. I think waiting until 5pm to post the complaint and only saying "someone influential" made it is pretty shady.
There is a website at the bottom of the article for anyone interested in reading more about Mr. Ellis's campaign.

Re: Police order nude mannequins covered up
This 'influential person' wasted police time. Nude mannequins are in USA dress shops from time to time and no complaints. I'll bet if that metal chain & leaflet weren't advertised then both nude mannequins wouldn't have raised an issue. Or maybe this could have been a marketing ploy for attention? Our police force could have been elsewhere taking care of real crimes, but instead had to attend to this instead.

I find it ironic that the shop owner was trying to raise awareness of a real problem, but the police instead chose to waste their time dealing with a couple of nude mannequins...

O.K., I agree with every comment here, but I have a question... when did mannequins start to look like the rest of us... I mean, these plastic dolls have some real artistry going on!
Other comment is the display is obviously getting attention, gaged by the fact that everyone on the bus seems to notice.
