    Unhappy Rules About Massage

Greetings everyone I need to vent something to get it off my chest and move on so please bare with me.

I recently joined a Yahoo nudist group (nameless) and the discussions that are there are very good. The owner of the goup and the moderators do a good job at keeking the group clean thus far from the time i have been a member and they are to be congradulated on that. But when I read the rules of the group which I agree with and respect up to the point where massage is put in the same context as sexual activity. As a massage therapist I was offended at this notion. I am working to build my practice as a legit therapist and would like to eventually find work at a landed club. I sent an email to the owner of the group addressing my concern and the offence. I had stated that I understand that the topic of massage is not to be discussed in the goup and would respect that. I only made a simple request that massage be edited out of that particular rule and made it a stand alone altogether. I equated that by putting massage in the same context as sexual activity is like putting Natual and or Naturally magazines with publications such as Playboy, Penthouse, and other porn material which is offensive to us nudist. I respectivly asked that Massage not be associated in the manner that it is. Well the owner stated that he/she/it understands and is aware of the theraputic application of Massage and yet disrespects it by listing in an offensive manner. I will not mention the name of the group or it nature because at least I will show respect although none is being shown in return.

It is sad that even within our own ranks there is such intolerance.

    Thanks
    Leo

You are absolutely right! A therapeutic massage is not any more sexual than skinnydipping. I cannot understand a discussion board on nudism/naturism would categorize massage as a sexual topic.

Either keep up the fight or find another board.

    Good Luck,

    Re: Rules About Massage

I am a budding massage therapist and I agree. Very irritating to want to work at a legitimate and honorable profession when there are so many that continue in the misguided and narrow minded belief that massage is sexual. Poor malinformed individuals hear the word massage and immediately their thoughts go toward being unclothed and followed closely by visions of illicit sex in one form or another. This demonstrates how little such individuals know about massage. There are several modalities of massage that can done while clothed. Reflexology, Thai-yurvedic, and shiatzu are done while the client is fully clothed. Sorry, I was getting up on the soap box and I try never to do that. It just really agravates me that so many people live in the dark ages and associate nudity and massage with sex. I admit there are massage techniques for senuality but there are a lot more massage techniques that target theraputic results. Similarity, nudity can be a prelude to sex but it can also be done just for the sake of enjoying nudity sans any sexual acitivity. These people need to get a life or read book.
Life is short, enjoy it one moment at a time.

You have to remember that most peoples' experience with massage. Instead of asking their spouse for sex, they ask if they want a massage. The spouse agrees, knowing that it will end up in sex, because they will at least get a massage out of it. In this case, massage = sex.

that's discrimination, i think that they need to be more open minded on things and not make such a big deal about a "massage" i dont see how that can be sexual in any way?!?! it is only dirty if you make it dirty, obviously they have no idea what they are talking about!

Exactly. I have had quite a few therapeutic massages, both naked and with some clothes on. Massages, done in a professional manner, are not sexual. Half the time, I fall asleep!
