Thumbs up Poll: Should clubs and resorts limit single men? (See opposing views below first)

    Limit them:
All successful nudist clubs know that in order to survive, they must maintain a comfortable ratio of men to women. Also, families with children must have both parents present. They encourage all single males to invite a female they know when they plan on attending. This will also help a single male from feeling lonely. Many clubs also have a policy of NOT accepting applications from married people unless both partners apply (and actually attend functions). This is to avoid possible problems if one partner is attending club activities without the other's knowledge. They would not want to be the reason if the non-member found out about the other partner's activities, and was not amused. Some clubs now understand that when a couple are members there may be occasions when both partners can not attend a function because of illness, work commitments etc. and have no problem with the other partner attending alone, because they know that they are not attending "behind their partner's back".

    Do not limit them:
All these games clubs play limits the growth of non-sexual nudism by acting like it is sexual. Clubs that allow everyone in usually get a larger attendance in the long run and and eventual balance. Many men want to visit a beach or resort first to see how good it is before inviting a girl friend or wife. By not allowing this it causes them to just forget it. Nude recreation is just another form of recreation like bowling, golf, sunbathing, etc. If by chance there were mostly men bowling one day for instance, no one would think "oh no, we need gender balance!" to have fun bowling. I get naked for me, not for the women or anyone else. Keep sex in the bedroom and let's all enjoy nude recreation no matter who wants to show up. The true naturist women wouldn't even think twice about it because like any other activity where there is no sex, it doesn't matter. And if you say women get nervous around a bunch of men, I don't believe it, not if the men behave. If someone doesn't behave, kick 'em out, just like anywhere else, and there will be no problems. Most people get over any sex hang-ups at nude events during the first day, why can't certain resort owners get over it after 30 years of preaching about how sex has nothing to do with naturism yet will not let single men participate. Let naturism grow! Let everyone who wants in, in. When nudist children grow up and turn eighteen, they and any of their friends are usually still single and can no longer go to their favorite resort, and with no girl friend yet, they give up! This happened to me after years of visiting resorts at age 12 and up. That hinders growth and that is why there aren't many young people at those resorts.

There is no right or wrong answer. A club should set its gate policy to

    a) Whatever the members feel comfortable with and
    b) Whatever the owners of the club feel comfortable with.

...and not be overly concerned with what the outside world thinks.

Basically, do what's best for themselves.

There are not enough choices. Clubs are too expensive for many people and discriminatory also. I don't care what they do, as there are enough places to go nude without joining one for my circumstances.

I want to vote for both! I want to vote for "no limits," but I do not agree with the premise that it will "eventual balance." I doubt that it will.

I also want to vote for "limiting." We all know that some men will want to go to a resort for viewing pleasure and to pick up women. There will always be men that do this. Until we can come up with a test which will identify them, we will have to assume that everyone is guilty (remember you are not "innocent until proven guilty" here) and restrict them.

Limiting has bad side effects too. By refusing admittance to "good" men, the resort is also refusing their money--never a good thing for a business. By enforcing equal men-women ratios, you enforce the sub-conscious view connecting nudity to sex. The resorts guarantee that every woman can pair up with a man...why? So they can "pair up?"

So put me down for both.

Sexual discrimination based on assumed behavior is wrong. If you want to limit bad behavior, restrict those who actually misbehave.

The theologians call it a sinner and try to reform it. The governor calls it a criminal and tries to punish it. The psychologist calls it a neurotic and tries to cure it. Still, the Damned Thing will not fit into their slots."

My wife says limit them, I say don't.
It's difficult, my wife likes resorts but won't go regularly. I want to go regularly but cannot as I am 'single' when she is not with me!!

I agree with you whole-heartedly. How do you propose limiting those who will misbehave? Ask them at the gate? If they answer yes, you turn them away. If no, let them in? I wonder how they will answer the next time they are asked.

The opposite of the "single male" issue has affected us with the rules of our club. Why is it that a person can work, pay taxes, buy a home, raise children, be an upstanding person in the community but can't visit a club without their "reluctant" spouse?

    Adults being treated like children...
