Re: The Middle East
We'll get "dragged" into it when one of our allies is attacked and holds up the treaties that we and many other nations have signed to help them out. It's part of being allies and I would expect us to uphold any treaty regardless of who is in power. We signed on the dotted line and if we need to spend our treasure and lose our young than that's what happens. If it were the other way around they would help us. They might not be able to help like we can, but they can help.
What we need is a more aggresive stance against nations that destroy the heritage of the past because it disagrees with the morals of today. ie: The giant standing Buddhas in Afganistan that were very old until the Taliban blew them to bits. Maybe we learned the lesson of standing idly by when shortly after that we were attacked. As a history buff, it saddened me to see that looters had gotten into the Cairo museum and damaged atifacts and mummies.
My concerns have always centered around Isreal. They have a long history of failing to live up to treaties and continue to build on disputed territory. If a major war starts in the Middle East you can be sure Isreal will be in the middle of it.

Claiming that someone else's marriage is against your religion is like being angry at someone eating a donut because you're on a diet.
