That's understandable. I was under the impression that the reason for all the latest hub-dub was a silly little film on Youtube.
This 'silly little film' is the 'silly little SPARK' that Ignites the Tinder Box !

The film is on Youtube and is called 'the innocence of muslims' The acting is TERRIBLE! The original soundtrack was dubbed over afterwards, so much so, that the Actors are saying that they were misled! The Film is Made In USA. Funding was from Unknown Sources.

It was Produced for ONE Purpose only! To RILE UP Muslims! What I want to know? Who funded the Film? Follow the Money, as they say.

Was it, are you sure about that? Could it have been that it was just an idiot expressing his views, no matter how ignorant and prejudicial they may be? I am not saying that you are wrong, it could have been done to rile up Muslims just so he could say, "See I was right, look how they are reacting.".
An opinion shared by many does not make it true.

An after thought I had; why protest against and/or attack a whole country because of the actions of one or a few idiots who speak their views of a religion?

It was a terrorism operation ordered by Al Qaeda in retaliation for the US Drone assassination of the reputed #3 guy in Al Qaeda - Abu Yahya al-Libi (al-libi means "The Libyan"). The demonstrations in Benghazi were just cover for the terrorist attack on the consulate.

The US remains very popular in Libya, there were much larger counter demonstrations today in Benghazi to denounce the violence and show solidarity with the US. That doesn't happen much in the Arab world. US ambassador Christopher Stevens who was killed in Benghazi was a genuine hero to the Libyan people. When their revolution began he secretly entered Libya by traveling in a freighter from Malta and served as US envoy to the resistance. He was instrumental in getting the fragmented groups to work together, and he was the chief adviser to SOS Clinton and President Obama in the decision making about what the US role would be in supporting the revolution. Although much of what Stevens did during that time remains classified, the Libyan resistance leaders credit Stevens' role as indispensable in getting the air cover and other support that allowed them to defeat Muammar's army.

What has not been as widely reported is that it was mainly Libyan citizens who defended the consulate and drove back the attackers - some of the defenders were people who originally went there to protest that deliberately provocative movie. Ambassador Stevens and his 3 man security detail had been separated from the US security troops (not Marines - their role was ended under Bush, embassy and consulate security is now the responsibility of the Diplomatic Security Service who employs mercenaries to do the work - some of whom are top-notch veterans of special forces, some of whom are ... not). It was Libyans in the crowd who moved most of the consulate personnel to safety. When Libyan defenders found the injured ambassador and his companions in a burning building they had no idea who he was, they just knew he was an American who needed help - they quickly evacuated him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead from smoke asphyxia. Today Stevens is being hailed in Libya as a friend and Libyan martyr, not as a symbol of hatred of America.
Pretty good evaluation, a little slanted, but good. You have to be careful about commenting about events like this because so much more comes out every hour.
For example: the "Libyan citizens who defended the consulate" turned out to be guards, hired by the U.S. State Department (Diplomatic Security Service). One was shot in the legs by an attacker who called him a "Helper of infidels." Another injured Libyan guard was allowed to seek medical attention after he told the attackers that he was only a gardener.

I am surprised that you didn't blame Bush for producing "the movie". The responsibility for protecting U.S. Embassies and Consulates rests with the State Department. U.S. Marines were at the Embassy in Egypt......although the State Department ordered them to be unarmed. So who runs the State Department?....Hillary Clinton. And who appointed her to that position?....B. Hussein Obama. So why blame Bush?

Oh.....first it was a Jew who produced the film....Islamics hate Jews. Now its a Coptic Christian....shooting Coptic Christians and burning their churches is a popular past time in Muslim countries. I wonder who could be next....(George Bush?)

Your article shows that the AP is doing some in-depth investigation into who made this film..........but who is investigating the killer(s) of the Americans in Libya????

I still want to see this film. I'm beginning to think it may be a hoax.

Better yet, why create a film characterizing an entire religion when it likely only applies to the fringe extremists?

I'm inclined to believe this film was produced to create a reaction. Well here is the reaction... over-blown or not. I read someplace where the creator(s) has gone into hiding? Seems to me if they have the balls to create such, he/she/they should be able to stand up and face the scrutiny and/or consequences, rather than cowering behind the rest of the US. It's a question of taking responsibility for ones' own actions.
Naturism... it does a body good!

Well I won't rule it out. Bush has been pretty quiet these last few years, no telling how he has been filling his time.

The changes weren't made by Hillary, they happened well before "B. Hussein" took office.

Don’t Blame the Marines: Here’s Who is Supposed to Protect U.S. Diplomats

It is NOT the job of Marines to protect diplomatic personnel or embassies & consulates (anymore). They are present in very small numbers, only to protect the secrets in embassies, they are not even posted in consulates. As for them being ordered to be unarmed - not true. False claims about that have flashed through the rightwing blogosphere, but they are just BS. What’s Worse: No Marines, or (Possibly) Unarmed Marines?

Apparently an American evangelical 'charity' paid for the film license and backed the production in partnership with a soft-core porn maker.

    The FBI
