Can you explain what makes Rmoney's statement different than the statement issued by the Embassy? Like Mark, I don't see the difference in meanings of the two statements. Please, an explanation of the difference in meanings and not just the right wing non-explanation "an apology."

Oh that's all over with....that's settled.

Right after the attack in Egypt and Libya, president Obama said: The United States rejects all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others --"

Therefore we expect a repeal of that part of Obamacare that offends the beliefs of the Catholic Church any day now.

That would be difficult. But I think that the modern day Vatican Death Squads wear white tunics with bright red crosses on the chest. They all wear "Chopard" sunglasses so as to blend in with crowds.

"countless death squads sent from the Vatican" ?
How utterly absurd and untrue! Just another bit of fantasy creativity. Guess the Tea party is as much anti-Catholic as anti-Muslim.

"the whole country rallied around Serrano to defend his First Amendment rights" ?
Yet another bit of fantasy creativity involving historical revisionism. Actually:

Serrano became a figure whom Senator Jesse Helms, and Senator Alphonse D'Amato, as well as other cultural conservatives, attacked for producing offensive art.

So much for the whole country defending him. Just look at who was opposed.

    Sure, happy to....

Romney's statement came AFTER the attack. As a president's statement should. Unless the president knew the attack was eminent and was hoping to prevent it by appeasing the un-appeasable.

Romney was speaking as a presidential candidate and, as such made a good statement. He did not go off on a "what I would do when I'm President" rant. Nor did he make excuses.

The statement from the Embassy was a plea......"please don't attack us.... we spit on Americans who exercise their free speech rights."

Why would a U.S. Embassy make such a woosey statement if it didn't know something was going to happen??? Why was it not a stern warning and a demand for additional police and military protection...or else. Why did it contain bold lies? "we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions." "Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy.".....Catholic Church and Obamacare comes to mind...................

Yogi.....do you think Serrano's life was ever in danger then or now??

Do you think the producer of that silly anti Muslim film, or the actors, or anyone remotely related to it feel safe and secure here at home???

Just more twisting like in a bag of pretzels. So where is the "apology?"

Hey Gloria, I think you are going a bit overboard on your reasoning here. The film was made specifically to offend Muslims and to inflame anger and violence against America. The reason someone would want to do that is impossible to guess though we are all trying. Obamacare was created to help give the American public in general a better health care system (more like the the good healthcare system we have in Australia) and was NOT DESIGNED to offend anybody.

How is it an apology? Where does it show that the US is contrite?

Are we going back to this misinformation? I am sure if your Catholic Church bought an oil well in the Gulf, you would cry foul if they were required to put in a blowout preventer. After all, they should not be required to follow the laws and rules when they branch out into non-religious industries.
