Here is an example. Your normal progression of web pages might be A to B to C to D. Now you click to go to page E. When page E is about to be displayed, page E reloads itself. So you end up with your browser history looking like this: A to B to C to D to E to E. Now you see the back button once "keeps" you on page E (which may reload itself). If you click the back button quickly several times in a row, you may get back to page D or C.

Kind of quirky, I agree. But that is web pages for you.
I advise not to ever visit page E. It's always slow.

    Re: Is it just me?

No. There is an apparent issue with the routing of IP Packet traffic to and from the site:

    C:\Documents and Settings>tracert www.clothesfreeforum.com

Tracing route to clothesfreeforum.com [72.167.142.123] over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 3 ms <1 ms <1 ms dlinkrouter.myhome.westell.com [192.168.0.1]
    2 2 ms 8 ms 7 ms dslrouter [192.168.1.1]
    3 50 ms 50 ms 47 ms 10.13.25.1
    4 51 ms 47 ms 48 ms P0-2-0-0.NRFLVA-LCR-21.verizon-gni.net [130.81.193.118]
    5 57 ms 56 ms 57 ms so-0-0-0-0.LCC2-RES-BB-RTR1-RE1.verizon-gni.net [130.81.22.40]
    6 61 ms 58 ms 58 ms 0.ae1.BR1.IAD8.ALTER.NET [152.63.32.141]
    7 57 ms 57 ms 93 ms 64.212.107.57
    8 131 ms 128 ms 126 ms 64.210.13.110

    10 130 ms 127 ms 127 ms ip-97-74-253-94.ip.secureserver.net [97.74.253.94]
    11 131 ms 125 ms 126 ms xe-1-1-0.mpr3.phx2.us.above.net [64.125.30.149]
    12 132 ms 129 ms 136 ms ip-208-109-113-174.ip.secureserver.net [208.109.113.174]
    13 136 ms 129 ms 129 ms ip-97-74-253-82.ip.secureserver.net [97.74.253.82]

    17 * * * Request timed out.
    18 * * * Request timed out.
    19 * ^C

If my understanding of IP traffic remains accurate, no single IP Address should appear twice in the "tracert" list above. "Hop" 10 should not closely resemble hop 13, and hop 12 should not match hop 16 exactly. This appears to indicate the data traffic is passing through the same piece of network gear twice. Why would someone, such as a data network provider do this, (ummm) perhaps to charge the client TWICE for data they should have only had to pay for once. If the client (CFI/CFF) were limited to 50 GBs of data traffic a month and routine goes OVER to 60 or 70 GBs, which costs extra, it could be because some of the traffic is NOT unique.

Checking it from another point of origin (www.network-tools.com) shows:

    TraceRoute to 72.167.142.123 [www.clothesfreeforum.com]

Hop (ms) (ms) (ms) IP Address Host name
    1 0 0 0 206.123.64.42 -
    2 0 0 0 64.124.196.225 xe-4-2-0.er2.dfw2.us.above.net

    4 5 5 5 64.125.26.134 xe-1-2-0.cr2.iah1.us.above.net
    5 28 28 28 64.125.28.73 xe-0-1-0.mpr4.phx2.us.above.net
    6 29 29 29 209.66.64.6 209.66.64.6.t01121-04.above.net
    7 53 53 53 97.74.253.94 ip-97-74-253-94.ip.secureserver.net
    8 53 53 53 97.74.253.94 ip-97-74-253-94.ip.secureserver.net
    9 53 53 53 97.74.253.98 ip-97-74-253-98.ip.secureserver.net
    10 56 55 55 208.109.113.174 ip-208-109-113-174.ip.secureserver.net
11 Timed out Timed out Timed out -
12 Timed out Timed out Timed out -
13 Timed out Timed out Timed out -

Of course I would recommend someone else look into this observation and confirm what I "think" I am seeing before questioning any data carrier's routing practices (and their business practice integrity).

Be careful. Web servers can turn off responses to pings. To see this, try pinging www.cbs.com. You get a reply. Now try www.cnn.com. You get a time out just like on this site. So time outs are because the server is not responding, but it can be because it is dead or set to not reply.

The problem I have is that after posting, or viewing a post, I click on the "Latest posts" in the header and usually get a "No Newer Posts" page until I click on the "Latest Posts" a second time, then it all works out fine.

    Re: Is it just me?

Site crawling along right now. It's taking 45 seconds to a minute for a page to load and there is now an absence of some of the icons normally seen on the page. I'm turning into a stone waiting for CFI pages to load while all othe sites have no problem.

Hopefully this post can give CFI site admins some form of time stamp as to when these breakdowns are occurring.

    Re: Is it just me?

I will post this here instead of starting a new thread because it goes along with the problems I and others have had. What the hell is going on with this forum? There is still the problem I initially started this thread with, now there are missing posts, sometimes an entire days worth. The whole site was down for maintenance and still these problems exsist. Others have noticed that the time is off. I like coming here but it is becoming a chore and dissapointing to see these problems continue.
An opinion shared by many does not make it true.

The site went down a couple of weeks ago for a day, and when it came back it lost at least a days worth of posts prior to the outage. Happened a again last week and lost another couple days of posts that were already made. Then just this morning, while I was in the middle of making a post, something happened again, the site didn't go down, but it suddenly lost every post made since Wednesday evening - 4 days. I can understand losing posts that weren't yet backed up after a system outage ... but that is pretty old tech, shouldn't be an issue if using RAID5 or 6.

It most likely is not a RAID issue, but rather backing up a database issue. They did recently switch to new servers. More than likely, they are even more frustrated than us. It is very difficult when your environment is acting up on you.
