Not a general anti religions bias....just some sarcasm that is directed at the hypocrisy that masquerades as real religion. In Christ's day, we all know who would have offered real compassion and understanding to Gough and who would have crucified him.

Just a note: Stu is not religious and hence the comment does not apply to him. He, of course, knows this.

ANGRY fans of the Naked Rambler yesterday slammed cops for nicking the nudist in their sleepy village.

Sickened residents branded Stephen Gough’s arrest “a total shambles” and insisted police should have turned a blind eye to his harmless antics.

The bare ex-Royal Marine was lifted on the edge of Townhill, in Fife, on Friday — just THREE days after being freed from Perth jail — and is due in court today.

But barmaid Angela Drummond insisted Gough, 56, would have got a warm greeting at the Village Inn.
    The 48-year-old said:
“Most of the regulars would have welcomed him. He’s spent so long in prison for something pretty trivial.”

Craig Smith, 35, added: “It is a total shambles. The authorities should leave him alone.”

Gough was released from prison last Tuesday after six years in solitary.

Tayside cops agreed to look the other way as he strode out in the buff to continue his epic trek home to Eastleigh, Hants.

But 73 hours later the Fife force arrested Gough and charged him with a breach of the peace, following a complaint.

Barman Gavin Lang, 25, added: “I don’t understand why they didn’t follow the lead of the Tayside cops.”

His last arrest is aggravated by the fact that it took place near a childrens play area. That will not go down well with the people of Scotland!

It's kind sad Stu that you are so anti-biased against whatever you consider to be inappropriate nudity (your definition) that you would never post the kind of article that Gary posted above. We always can count on you presenting an overwhelmingly negative and biased view towards nudity.

I suppose you could accuse the Bible of having an anti-religious bias also. The only time it says anything nice about religion is in James where he says true religion cares for the widows and orphans.

Sanslines - I would never link to any article from The Sun because I never read it; it is regarded as by far the trashiest newspaper in Britain and is often the butt of comedians' jokes. For example. enjoy...:

Stu - The question is this.............is the article accurate or is it not........ regardless of your personal feelings towards the Sun. Some people in the UK prefer the Times and think that the Telegraph is a second or low class newspaper that exists for the common people. I personally prefer reading the Telegraph over the Times but I won't denegrate the Times. I don't really see how your denegration of the Sun invalidates the article unless you are trying to indirectly denegrate the article by 'association'.

The Sun is owned by the same guy who owns Fox News (Murdoch), the TV station which you were disparaging just a few days ago.

Aside from the fact that the article has no balance - which is usual for The Sun, as it likes to sensationalise every story in some way, it gives very little detail as to who these people were. We already know that a handful of Gough's fellow "activists" traveled up to greet him as he left prison. For all we know, Gavin Lang and Craig Smith could just be members of his little fan club. I have found that The Sun is utterly unreliable in its reporting: many years ago, it reported a story of a drowning near a relative's house and it referred to my cousin Allison as a "schoolteacher": she is a civil engineer!

I am not disputing that there are two schools of thought on Gough's behaviour - some people think he should be left alone, others find his behaviour unacceptable. We do know that there were several complaints about his behaviour from members of the public.

I am still waiting for Stu to try to explain away his hypocrisy.
An opinion shared by many does not make it true.

Meanwhile, the trend is spreading in Scotland, see http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/home...d-Rambler.html

OK, it's another article from The Sun newspaper, but apparently a guy went to work naked in support of Gough. His boss was said to be enraged!
