Naked Rambler walks free from prison - and walks away nude

Looking at the route he is taking - areas I know well - he does appear to be compromising now by using some fairly remote "national parks", avoiding populated areas and busy roads.

I hope he continues to stay out of the way of others - for his own and everybody else's sake. If he doesn't, he is likely to find himself at odds again with the English criminal justice system.

Why would he chose to compromise now given that he has not given an inch over the past half dozen years? I think that you and some other men are jealous because the rambler appears to be rather fit and the old flabby sods of men are just plain jealous. You many not be flabby but I do detect a sense of jealousy and of course the usual abhorrance when one person after another mentions that children are not born to be afraid, hateful, or concerned about nudity. Such things, along with many other prejudices, are learned from adults with shortcomings that they refuse to face.

The rambler has always clearly stated that he is not a nudist. The nudist organizations have nothing to fear from him and they should just ignore him. Instead some members come out and condemn him. By doing so, they only show that they are intolerant of anyone who deviates from their beliefs. If they demonstrate such intolerance, they really have no justification to complain about the greater textile society that is intolerant of nudism. Intolerance begets intolerance. Hate begets hate.

Yes, I wondered that. I imagine he has had enough - which is why he broke down ast time he was in court. He has painted himself into a corner and now realises he might just now be able to make it home without actually putting his clothes on - and he is seizing his chance. I hope he keeps it up.

LOL - I can assure you that the LAST person on earth I envy is Stephen Gough. He has made an almighty mess of his life, wrecked his marriage, has no relationship with his children, to whom he is an acute embarrassment, has abandoned his elderly mother and is despised by many in Scotland and England - and by many nudists.

He says he is not a nudist, but unfortunately some prominent nudists have been championing him - so people are now associating Mr Gough with nudism. They should have disassociated themselves with this guy and kept him at arm's length; they have foolishly allowed this extremist to damage the reputation of nudism, and that is a pity.

Quite right. He looks dirty, dishevelled and like some kind of eccentric vagrant. How many ordinary people who live in ordinary houses would want to be associated with somebody like that? He is the worst possible advertisement for nudism.

and I wonder how many "true nudists" would want to walk around in public and be an afront to the general population? How many "true nudists" feel oppressed that they have to wear clothes, although they freely choose to live within a textile community and can move?

any way, Mark, I am not a "nudist" as you. I have been to some nude beaches, and some nudist events. I would be open to going to a naked getaway assuming I could convince my wife (which I doubt).

and that's about it. This site is about nude recreation-not about indecent exposure but it occurs to me that really that's all you, and some others are actually interested in. Do you want more areas, beaches to go naked? No.

Do you want to respect the sensibilities of those who have a much different view of nudism and choose not to go to nude beaches, resorts, or participate in any c/o activities?

to be honest, in my view, it is extremist positions such as yourself, that of Sanslines, and that of Nimrod that create a extremely negative image of the c/o lifestyle/recreation.

these people are not nudists who champion and defend him. Unfortunately within the c/o /nudist ranks we have some nutsjobs. They are in it for another reason.

I find Gough and his supporters equally frightening. Please take my word for it-that they do not represent those that are interested in c/o recreation (as myself) or nudism-what ever that is.

David, don't know about the showers, but Stephen Gough is met at his overnight stops and supplied with food, water, fire pit, and company as you can see in the links to pictures along the way on post #338 and below:
