The picture of the ex-Beatle and his partner were used on the cover of their 1968 album, Unfinished Music No 1: Two Virgins.
One image, used on the front of the LP cover, shows the pair naked from the front, while the image used on the reverse shows them from behind.
The current owner discovered the black-and-white snaps in the loft of his late mother's house in Dorset — but has no idea how she came by them.
Both images are going up for sale at Duke's auctioneers in Dorchester, Dorset, on April 12, with a pre-sale estimate of £700.
Matthew Denney, from Duke’s, said: “No-one knows how the photographs emerged in Dorset.
“The vendor found them in his mother’s attic after she died and he has no idea how she came by them.

“These are wider shots than the ones produced on the album cover and Beatles experts we have spoken to are very interested in them.
“These are vintage photographs and there has already been quite a bit of interest in them.”
The black-and-white snaps were taken at fellow Beatle Ringo Starr's London apartment, where Lennon and Ono stayed later that year.
Many record stores refused to stock the album because of the nudity on the cover. Where it was sold, it was handed over in a brown paper bag.
