Semi nude swim lands woman behind bars

Same old same old. Alcohol and nudity make for some odd situations/behavior. Choosing to go bottomless is also a twist, so to speak. I would argue though that if she was IN the pool bottomless, then she wouldn't have been visibly nude. But I'm not sure that defense would work.
I do feel bad that she got her picture plastered on the news site.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A 24-year-old Louisville woman was arrested after she decided to go swimming without covering part of her body.

Metro Police received a trouble call to the 700 block of Huntington Park Drive around 7 p.m. on July 25. When officers got there, a lifeguard at the swimming pool told them a woman, identified as Leslie Brown, had jumped into the pool without clothing on the lower part of her body, and had been yelling and frightening small children.

Officers said Brown was unstable on her feet and smelled strongly of alcohol. Brown told officers she had five shots.

Brown was taken into custody. She was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

In most European countries it most certainly is not OK. This demonstrates the myth which is prevalent in some parts of the USA that Europeans have normalised public nudity when this is simply not the case.

This is a picture I took on Thursday this week of the Swedish beach near my home. I saw about 50 people in total - nobody was naked, one woman was topless and that was only for a moment while changing.



In fairness, I think her state of undress was just part of the reason she was arrested. She was also drunk and behaving in a generally disorderly fashion.

I see clearly the need for Brown's arrest is that she was behaving in a disorderly fashion and more so she was frightening the children who were there. Even that sort of behaviour would not be tolerated by anyone in any nudist resort, that's for sure.

This is a real shame because Brown appears to be quite the beautiful young lady. Brown is also very lucky she didn't get slapped with a sex charge because she was exposing herself to children who were there at the pool. Alcohol is a very controlling thing and I certainly hope Brown will make the decision to not let herself continue to be bound and controlled by alcohol. I certainly wish Leslie well.

Well Stu, since she was not charged with indecency, it seems the main reason for the arrest was her behaviour, which was caused by her intoxication.

Stu your picture really means nothing. On a hot weekend you can go to Jones beach and see thousands of bathers and none of them nude. But drive about 20 miles east and go to Lighthouse beach and you'll see hundreds, of NUDE bathers. Your picture only shows that you took it at a non C/O beach or that it was very cold.

It is impossible to know how much her state of undress contributed to her "disorderliness" in the minds of the police, prosecutors and judge. I suspect it did to some extent at least.

It's not a C/O beach. It is a beach at a place called Eldsberga, to the south of Halmstad. The photo was taken last week (Thursday) at around 3.30pm and it was hot - I would guess around 80F. I have no doubt that you would have seen nude people at the north beach at Mellbystrand, just 5 miles or so to the south of this one, because it is a C/O beach.

My point is that the notion cultivated by many Americans that nudity is commonplace in Europe is largely mythical. Of course, we have many C/O beaches, but most beaches are strictly textile and the only nudes you will see will be infants. I have never seen a topless woman at any European park, riverbank or lakeside: that might occur in certain places in Europe, such as in Bavaria, but that is the exception and not the rule.
