Lightbulb The American President: What's in the job?

Democrat or Republican, we should each recognize the difficult job of the President and here is a page to glimpse this one's efforts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timelin...f_Barack_Obama

One link, a few minutes of reading, and a little time to consider: "Are we asking the nearly impossible of any one person?"
"Why didn't I think of going nude sooner?!"
Relax! Enjoy life's little adventures. You may only get a chance to do THIS once!

Yes, that is why there should be others to help that person. With what is going on in politics today, the burden is worse for the current president with all those who are out to make sure he is a one term president.

Re: The American President: What's in the job?

In looking over the timelines, two things are obvious: 1) that he's a very busy person, and 2) that he has accomplished a lot of good for the American people, including the reversal of many bad decisions of his predecessor. Also, he could have, so far, accomplished a lot more if he didn't have the brick wall of obstructionism to deal with.

For sure, Obama (or any other president) has aides and advisors to assist him, but still it is an almost impossible amount of time and work that is expected of one person. Somehow, I think steps need to be taken to lessen the workload of the office of the presidency, no matter who occupies that office.

"Timelines of the Presidency of Barack Obama" is very interesting.

However it makes no mention of vacation time or golf outings or time spent trying to save his job by attending fundraisers.

Which he apparently isn't doing enough of compared to previous presidents. He's particularly behind on 'brush clearing'.

If an American does not think they can be President, without help, they should not run.

Nor did it mention the many times he came to Manhattan. Yesterday the city came to a standstill with street closings and transit disruptions, as well as inconveniencing tens of thousands of people trying to go home after work, so he can attend a $40,000 a plate fundraiser netting about 2.4 million. On 6/14 he attended 2 fundraisers total 4.5 mil but he stopped off at the World Trade Center so he can call it an official visit and charge the public for part of the trip. Also New Yorkers were blessed on 6/4 with his visit. Each time the city was brought to a standstill.

So the president needs to be all knowing, and be able to do everything, and know the mind of all the people? Are you suggesting that all U.S. Presidents should be the Christian version of god?

Did not all the presidents have advisors? What other reason is there for all the governmental departments except to take the burden off one person? What about representives, are they not there to help the president? Should the president be capable and have some knowledge of the world? Of course, but they are just one person and I for one do not expect perfection from anyone, not even the president.

Personally I do not know if I could vote for someone so arrogant that they think they have all the answers and unwilling to take some outside advise.

    An excellent point, Arkel.

As of March, Obama has held 104 fundraisers. Compare that to 94 held by Presidents Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and George W. Bush combined.

But since then, Obama has held another 20 fundraisers, bringing his total to 124. Carter held four re-election fundraisers in the 1980 campaign, Reagan zero in 1984, Bush Sr.19 in 1992, Clinton 14 in 1996 and George W. Bush 57 in 2004.

Apparently the former Presidents were busy running the country...not trying to protect their job.
