When you say "self pictures" I envision those photos taken of oneself by holding a digital camera out at arm's length, looking into the lens, then snapping the "pic". I have seen all kinds of these photos some are very good others are just plain stupid.

I have to agree with Kouak.....they are easy to take.

Nude, suggestive, sexy photos should remain on a disk. Unless one wants to show a self picture to the world...that disk or camera should not be placed near a computer that is online.

Personally, I've only taken one nude picture of myself outdoors. It is the only one linked on my profile. I took a few inside, and they just didn't seam to capture nudism as I understand it. Heck, even my current one doesn't really capture nudism as I understand it, but it did better than the indoor ones ever did.

I think the reason I took a picture was a combination of all the points you made, and a few additional ones.

Maybe the exceptions are vanity and sexuality. Clearly, my body when I took that picture was not that of a chiseled physique, and I took a rear picture instead of a frontal one.

To me though, social networking (which I believe this forum to be to an extent) is not complete without pictures. And that is the bottom line.

Not only are my and my wife's nude pictures only on disk they are encrypted with a *very* long password. Paranoia goes a long way.

For me, when I take pics, I make sure they are copyright protected with a watermark. It makes it harder for people to use my pictures and on my computer, all my photo's are encrypted and on truecrypt.

How do you copyright and watermark without subscribing to a service? Anyone who has photographs of any kind that they want to keep ownership of should do what you do, either that or never post them on the internet. The watermark is sometimes the only way you can prove ownership. There was a case recently in Minnesota where a hotel chain after turning down a photographers submission used his pictures anyway claiming that their people had taken the pictures. The hidden water mark was what won the day for the photographer.

Little offtopic, but what kind of selfpic is my friend. That is very common on picture pages. I understand that in selfpic is me myself and no other? My English can be limited because it isn't my native language, so plase explain me if I have not understood that right.

English isn't my native language either, but a selfpicture is the picture of yourself taken by yourself. It can be taken by holding the camera in your hand or using a self-timer.

Another cool way to take self-pics is to use the 'timed exposure' feature on your camera if it has one. Set the camera on a tripod, frame up the scene, set the camera to take the snap in 10 seconds then stand into the frame of your shot.

No doubt many of the posters here have done just that but for those who haven't might want to give that a try.

Exactly this is what is meant by 'self-timer'.
