Nudist lobby stands up for skinny-dipping lawmaker

But he got some support from the American Association for Nude Recreation ( “The credible voice of reason for nude recreation since 1931”). “Congressman Yoder is a typical American who enjoys skinny-dipping,” the AANR said in a press release. The nudist lobby says Yoder’s antics have brought attention to skinny-dipping and may help their cause of promoting nude recreation. “Overall, the reaction’s been mostly positive,” says Tom Mulhall, the AAN’s public relations chairman and the owner of Terra Cotta Inn, a clothing-optional resort in Palm Springs. “A lot of people are saying ‘big deal, so he went skinny-dipping!’”

I'm not surprised that in today's political environment people are trying to make this into a scandal. It's just skinny dipping. Get over it America!

I agree. By being associated with the Republicans, this will turn into a scandal.

That is the problem with this country, everyone is to quick to jump into something that does not concern them. This happen over a year ago, the way I hear it. Where was all the concern then - OH, I forgot it was not campaign session than and he has a R in front of his name too which does not help.
I want the government to stay out of my private life and quit stealing my money.

People, it as nothing to do with him being a Republican, it has to do with him being drunk, possibly on our dime, and skinny-dipping and nothing more.

I think that it is a good thing that the AANR is backing him on the skinny-dipping, it is a non issue for most people and that should come to light. We should be more concerned about if he was using our tax money, other then his paycheck, to throw parties and getting drunk and claiming that as a valid expenditure. If he was not, then good for him for having a life.

What gets me is the hypocrisy of the media. If it was a Democrat who had done it nothing would have been said. They hold Republicans to different standards than Democrats. A democrat can have multiple women accuse him of rape and the media say "it has nothing to do with his performance" but a Republican skinny dips and he should be removed from office!!!

That is just not true, take John Edwards as an example. And as I have said before, I have heard more on this issue here then in the media, and I had only heard it once as a news blurb and nothing more.

Ok, I spoke in generalizations. I think the reason that the media piled on Wiener was simply his name. I really felt kind of sorry for him, his name sort of doomed him to ridicule. It spoke more to the maturity (sophomoric at best) of many reporters.

Yes and the national media although they knew about his philandering said nothing until the "coverage" by the National Enquirer forced them to cover the story.
