Does anybody out there know where I can go to be nude outdoors in the Los Angeles area, say within about 50 miles? As you all know, there no nude beaches in LA county, Big Tujunga Canyon is closed due to the station fire, and "resorts" such as Glen Eden and Olive Dell are a bit pricey and restrictive. I would like to be with other people, but not necessarilly a big crowd. Be nice to be able to take my dog, too. National Forest would be nice; Big T was fun, I would like to find something like it. Don't want a hassle with the law, so tolerance would be good. Anybody know? Thanks!

You might try joining FreehikeCA yahoo group. Inquire on the board. There are several members who hike nude in the area. Mainly San Gabriel Mountains.

Deep Creek Hot Springs, near Hesperia. Probably more than 50 miles, though.

Deep Creek is the only place that nudity is accepted, even by those who do not get nude.
If you have never been, I highly recommend this hike. When I go there, I get nude as soon as I leave the house and do not have to put anything on until I get home again.
I believe that Big Tujunga Canyon has been reopened, however I have never hiked there so I do not know what the conditions are.

I have been nude hiking in an area above Lake Castaic. It is not a recognized nude area like Deep Creek but the trail that I hike on has a gated entrance so you always know if there is someone already there.
Unfortunately there is no access to the lake, but the views from the trail make it a worthwhile trip.

This trail is also very dog friendly. Be aware though that there are rattle snakes in the area, although in 10 years of hiking here I have only seen one anywhere near the trail.

Upeer Big Tujunga Canyon is CLOSED. I checked with the rangers at Tujunga station just the other day and they said that you will get a ticket if you park up there. Ignore rumors that it is open. Deep creek is over 80 miles from LA.

Castaic Lake is closer then Deep Creek.
I was there today hiking nude from 5:00 until just after 6:00. It was a spur of the moment opportunity so did not have a lot of time there.
For anyone going there, or any other hike, please be sure to bring plenty of water.

Toplessness has been declared to be legal in Maine, although I can assure you that the practice has not been universally accepted.
