Re: Naked man arrested for causing 'an alarm'

I'm willing to debate, but only when someone debates using their own words and thoughts.

I'm not willing to debate a "cut and paste" of a C paper from a term paper service. You can do better than that.

And if you're going to dismiss me because of my age, and experience, then maybe you're better off talking with the younger folks in here.

There are SO MANY younger people in nudism and clothes-free recreation, SO MANY -- yeah, go for it!

While you guys consider those with the pants-down-on-main-street to be the true pioneers, I have another one that was a "pioneer" close to home this week. Maybe he needs some defense funds. But, count me out.

Hey, he must be a "pioneer", he didn't get jail time!

Not debating - but declaring - in all seriousness, that the organized nudist structure in North America has NOT done a good job in replenishing the ranks of nudists with younger people. There are MANY reasons I can cite for this failure. But, numero uno is not because AANR and TNS don't have pants-off rallies on Main Street.

It's because the nudist industry chose to market itself as "upscale, upscale, upscale" for the last 20 years -- and in the process, didn't bother to do the same types of marketing that they did in the 1970s -- that attracted my generation. Low cost, fun, relaxation, etc.

As I've said -- AANR should probably engage itself with CFI, or some other group -- or hire two, or four young marketing PROFESSIONALS -- with experience.

Hell - breweries, distilleries, tobacco companies have been very successful at marketing their products to younger people - generation after generation. Can't nudism do that anymore?

The world of nudism, or naturism, can go FAR beyond sitting naked at a keyboard. If you never have tried nude recreation - or social nudism - you're missing out on some fantastic life experiences. TRY IT SOMETIME. Contact your local groups. You'll wonder why you didn't do so sooner.

Why the emphasis on pants down? Is it to make being nude in public seem dirtier, or worse?
An opinion shared by many does not make it true.

All that you are doing is showing once again that you are so rigid that you can not be reasoned with. You once again dismiss the source of information rather than the content of the source. This is a cop out and no doubt because you can not contradict the content of the source except with some past ancient local experiences. How utterly arrogant. I do not dismiss because of numerical age or alleged experience. Others are even older in age but are able to reason, consider other options and ideas, and be flexible in their approach rather than so casually dismiss someone because they don't meet their standards. Again, how arrogant. Others also have experience in life but that does not make their experience reflective of the entire factual situation. Humble people can admit to this and accept their limitations. Others can not.

You can certainly believe what you wish to believe and others can believe what they wish to believe but the fact is that nudism is not popular among the younger crowd and will never be so long as old thinking is forced upon them by those who are too rigid to accept any thinking outside of the box. It really is sad that so many in nudism are so old in thinking that they really have forgotten what it means to be young and young thinking. Perhaps they are facing their own mortality and are jealous of something that they can never have again - their youth.

Those who are not part of the solution are part of the problem. Too bad that so many can not see that they indeed are part of the problem.

Well, I used that term because that's what non-nudists would think about such actions. And that's the public reaction you're going to get if you decide to take that type of action.

Be prepared for it. The public-at-large isn't going to view you like they did with MLK and his followers for equal rights in our society. Nor will you get a sympathetic national media. And getting religious leaders to join you? HAH!

They're going to view you as a bunch of eccentrics who want to walk around with their pants down. Just sayin'.

Weren't we talking about "ancient times"? The 60s? So, yes, my experiences would be "ancient". But they were EXPERIENCES in those ancient times, when what you were discussing actually occurred. Not something I cut and pasted from a term paper service.

    "How utterly arrogant."
Nice way to elevate the conversation.

" I do not dismiss because of numerical age or alleged experience."
Neither do I. I dismiss because of grammatical errors and I really don't like arguments that people can't formulate in their own words.

Those who are not part of the solution are part of the problem. Too bad that so many can not see that they indeed are part of the problem.
Actually you've got the quote by Eldridge Cleaver (also an "ancient" guy by your standards, dead in fact). Sorry I'm part of the problem. I don't think I was part of the problem in 1963-1966....

Well, in 30 years, I won't be part of the problem, because I'll be gone from nudism. In fact, I'll likely be GONE. But then again, so will North American nudism. So you had better do something about it that will work.

I won't get in your way if you want to walk down Main Street in the nude. But I won't take my money and support you or bail you out -- nor will I encourage NAC or AANR to fund your efforts. They won't, anyway. But you might try raising funds for your efforts -- organize a national group to promote nudism as you see it.

Of course, it costs money. And if you engage in civil disobedience, there are penalties, but know well that the penalties for civil disobedience while naked can include having to wear a sex offender label for the rest of your life. If you're willing to do that, then GO FOR IT! Be a pioneer! Follow in the steps of Gough, Bethell, and the like!

I wish you the best of luck.

Re: Naked man arrested for causing 'an alarm'

    Lurk,

For the final time, why not get off your high throne and set a proper example by posting what you consider to be a proper source of information? Stop making excuses and just do it! - Post what you consider to be a proper example of a source of information and explain why. Don't demand that others do what you seem to be unable to do. Honestly, is this really too much work for you to do? Does the high and mighty lurk find it easier to wrongly judge others with some nonsensical statements about how a source of information does not meet YOUR standards instead of discussing the content of those sources or the topic at hand? Is this because you can not contradict those sources of information except with some ancient local personal experiences? Does the mighty lurk not realize that everyone has personal experiences and your experiences may or may not be representative of what actually occurred on an overall national level? Please lose the 'God complex', come down to earth, and join the rest of humanity on this planet. Arrogance and condescending comments will really get you nowhere in life. You should have learned this by now.

The only thing that really matters here is that younger people are not going to be told what is right or wrong by any self appointed prophet of nudism.

If you are really the age that you claim to be, than you certainly have forgotten what it means to be young on many different levels. You were a young child / teenager in the early 60's who claims to be some kind of expert based upon a child's experience of those events. Nice try, but let the facts speak for themselves, keep an open mind, listen to everyone, and dismiss those who so arrogantly think that there are no other valid experiences than their own experiences.

The only thing to be learned her is a clear example of why nudism is in part dying among young people. It is here for those with open minds to see for themselves. Old thinking will not save nudism as the continued decline in nudist numbers have proven over and over again.

And you know this how? There will be a negative reaction from some, but I doubt that that many, if any at all will, think "pants down" unless the person only had their pants down.

Be prepared for it. The public-at-large isn't going to view you like they did with MLK and his followers for equal rights in our society. Nor will you get a sympathetic national media. And getting religious leaders to join you? HAH!
I never said that they would view me like MLK even though it is about equal rights, but more on the line of religious freedom then race, and it is about tolerance. The media can change if more people, especially celebrities, are willing to come out and say they proctice nudism and that nothing is wrong with it. There are some religious leaders who do not have a problem with nudity, there are even nudist preachers, not many but they do exist, so you are a little off there.

They're going to view you as a bunch of eccentrics who want to walk around with their pants down. Just sayin'.
Eccentrics, maybe, preverted to some, but "pants down" is your expression that I am now convinced you are using to belittle any who does not share your narrow view of where nudism should be practiced.

It seems as though you will do nothing yet will criticise any that will. If nudism in North America dies it is because of attitudes like this.

I am always perplexed when nudists worry about nudism becoming less popular. Is it so important how many other people practise nudism? So long as you have places and opportunities to enjoy your chosen lifestyle, I don't see any need to maintain numbers of practising nudists.

Nudists (in the USA) don't have the places, opportunities, or numbers. There is no real justification here in the USA for a beach to be designated as a legal clothing optional beach if no nudists use such a beach. Heck, even with nudist interest, it is still impossible to get a beach designated as a legal clothing optional or nudist beach.
