we are writing a book

yes and honest to god book , not a short story but a real book . something on the order of about 100 pages
its is being written for the non-nudist that has heard of nudists but knows nothing about it.
it will give both a males prospective and a females prospective , we want to be very honest to the reader about who we are , what we are and why we are , as well as what we do and don't do .
to make sure we are covering all the bases we would like your input on any and everthing that has to do with nudist or the lifestyle , the good , the bad and the ugly . right now we are roughly at the 1/2 way point

I know where the answers are , over the years the forum here has covered just about everything an the opinions have reached from one extreme to another,some posters have been banned not because of opinion but attitude an abuse of other non compliant opinions,,,a great deal is entertainment an humor. This forum is a good place for research ,but its your book an in the end will contain you. It does not sound like a ducumentary but more informational ==be carefull here this group cannot be put in a box or even in a group ,they seek freedom,liberty an space to be natural. The private message option for members of the forum may help you gather info from a wide variety of posters ,,,i suggest that moderators are a good place to start ;there not perfect but close most of the time .. we agree , this forum is a gold mine for rough ideas , and your right it is not intended to be a documentary, just good honest information about nudists, warts and all .we hope to give the non-nudist enough information to make their own informed decision
and if they dicide not to become a nudist, at least maybe it will temper their outlook on nudists in genral

"just good honest information about nudists, warts and all"... hmm, that sounds so familiar... oh yeah, we've used it a number of times! That well describes an honest portrayal of social nudism, though you'll find some who would prefer to show only a pretty face to the world. We've been promoting nudism honestly for years now and that includes pointing out shortcomings and solutions, as well as the great stuff that makes it all worthwhile!

There's an entire industry which unceasingly promotes the good points of naturism while ignoring the troubles, caring more about drawing in customers than it does teaching naturist principles and working to smooth out the bumps. We feel that a problem ignored is a problem that will get worse, and knowledge is the only thing that can cause improvement. To that end we offer a lot of good information designed to get the newcomer started in the right direction and then, as you say, send them off into the naturist world anticipating the best and prepared for the worst. We've been called anti-naturism for doing that!

I would caution you against putting too much faith in what you read online about nudism, even in great forums like this one. Most of 'online nudism' is populated by people who are not practicing nudists and have very little experience with social nudism. For instance - nudists are not very interested in talking about erections (unwanted erections are exceedingly rare), comparing size (of anything), tattoos, and foreskins or the lack thereof. You will probably have to address these simply because non-nudists think they are 'important nudist issues'.

A 'warts and all' approach can go two ways. One is to validate popular non-nudist perceptions about nudism by emphasizing tales of swinging, sexual abuse, child endangerment etc. The other to is to be forthright about the real problems that affect the nudist community in comparison to the general community. For instance, the biggest problem you will encounter at any nudist resort is inebriated people behaving badly, exactly the same as any other resort - but that doesn't make for an interesting read.

keep the suggestions coming , we feel that in order for anyone to make an "informed decision" they should know the good and the bad . having been a nudist for 36 years and visited many resorts all over the country we think the good far out ways the bad
but just like any group, nudists have problems that the non-nudists needs to be informed about before making any kind of judgement about us as a group . hopefully after reeading the book the reader , will come away with a positive view of nudists even if they decide not to particapate

Good for you all and keep going with the project. I've had it in mind to write a book but it seems my most productive days are either "tomorrow" or "next Saturday."

I don't wish to sound cruel, but in what language is this book being written? Will there be professional editors to help with spelling, grammar and punctuation? I am not mocking you. My point is that a well-written book tends to reach a wider audience than something that looks like Twitter posts.

Is your book going to be more or less, a FAQ type book? If so, then you have an abundance of resources here in these forums. Just go back and look through the history of any subject and you should find multiple listings. That way, you can narrow down what you want to include in it. Be careful on searching in other web sites, as many of those use "nudity" as a way to get to porn. There are alot of good web sites out there, but you have to be careful on the links. This by far, is the best site for information. But like I stated, there are others as well. Just be careful. Lots of luck.
