NEW YORK GIANTS WIN!!!!!
The safety affected the game. Even though it was a four point win, the Pats had to go for a TD in the final drive instead of a field goal.
Not too many great commercials. Halftime show was good. Madonna was good, but wanted to hear more of Cee Lo Green.

So... did I win pick'um this year?
On a more revelant note, it's NHL PLAYOFF TIME! Here are my conference quarterfinal picks:
NY Rangers over Ottawa in 6. The Sens have the best defenseman in the league in Erik Karlsson, but Henrik Lundqvist is a lights-out, shutdown goalie. Expect lots of mediocre power-play action.
Boston over Washington in 5. All potential and nothing to show for it, the Caps and their lack of work ethic backed into the #7 seed. A piece of cake for the injury-plagued B's.
New Jersey over Florida in 6. These Panthers are a motley, lovable bunch of journeymen, but their goal differential is pathetic. Also, Martin Brodeur. Pete DeBoer gets his revenge.
Pittsburgh over Philadelphia in 7. The series to watch. Flyers fans think of Consol Energy Center as Wells Fargo West; the Pens have a kajillion scoring threats.
Vancouver over Los Angeles in 5. The Kings are the worst offensive team in the playoffs. Even with Danny Sedin on the DL, the 'Nucks still pack a punch. A typical youth versus experience matchup.
St. Louis over San Jose in 5. The Sharks are the hockey version of the '90s Atlanta Braves, and they won't get over the hump in '12 against a Blues team loaded with depth, pace, and structure.
Chicago over Phoenix in 7. The scrappy Coyotes are the feel-good story of the year, but they've never won a playoff series in the desert. The Hawks have a narrow edge if Crawford and Emery get their act together.
Nashville over Detroit in 6. The Preds aren't used to high expectations, yet they face a top-heavy Wings team that can't win on the road and have question marks on special teams. Hmm...

Finally, a championship! :P
Back to hockey: that was a crazy, physical first round. As a Hawks fan, I'm disappointed again but at least Raffi Torres got his just desserts. Meanwhile, who expected Vancouver to fold like that? On to the semis!
St. Louis over Los Angeles in 7. The Blues' top line needs to make a bigger impact. This is a real test for a young, feisty Kings squad. Expect an all-defense, low-scoring epic.
Phoenix over Nashville in 6. A contest of hot goalies in non-traditional hockey markets. The Preds' special teams is the X-factor. Somebody has to win this series, right?
New York over Washington in 7. An interesting reversal of fortune. Vezina/Hart contender King Henrik should hold his own against young, unproven Braden Holtby and the Caps' big guns.
New Jersey over Philadelphia in 6. You have to love a good divisional rivalry. The Flyers' battered D against the Devils' top-heavy offense. Never bet against Brodeur, though.
Finally, a fun fact: the four remaining West teams have combined for one Stanley Cup appearance since 1971 and zero all-time championships.

Hello, all sports "buffs":
What is the interest in doing the picks (predictions) this coming season?
The first game is Wednesday (for some strange reason), then a gap until next Sunday.
Can the Giants repeat as champions?

I am in for the picks this years if there is enough interest from others here.

I'm in, as long as more than three or four people play. We need to hype this up somehow...
As for my first pick, I'm taking the Giants over the Cowboys. The game is being played Wednesday to accommodate President Obama's speech on Thursday.

Looks like us 3 so far.
Must be more than 3 sports fanatics out of all these great people!
Anyway, the heart says Dallas will win Wednesday, the brain says New York will win.
Always go with the heart? Dallas to win!

I will say Giants to win tonight. I will give it until Saturday to see if Bob and Greg show up, but even then I do not know if that will be enough players. Do not know how to promote this so that others will join in and have some fun.
