Live to be 100
Was reading a piece on some of the things people do in their lives to live longer.
It got me wondering what are some of the ideas, myths, strategies and such that we here on the forum have for living longer.
The piece listed ten things which I will add after we see what people are saying and doing to live longer.
So, what do you do?

Good genes can help!
I aspire to be like my crazy Irish great-aunts who always were young at heart. Failing that, I'll be like my great-grandmother.....she lived to be almost 101 out of pure blind stubborness!

A balanced diet and movement.
Yes, I still eat chocolate, drink alcohol, etc. but nothing in excess.
I've never smoked in my life, but still some smokers can get really old. So I don't think we have much control over our age.
I'm still not halfway up to 100, so I won't be worrying too much about getting there or not.

living to be 100
A part of my business involves anti-aging both in appearence and internal. I can say with complete confidence the next generation WILL live to 100 yrs. with ease. The secrets to longer life are:
1. healthy cell walls
2. healthy immune system
3. healthy digestive system
All this can be done naturally with such suppliments as picnogenal, resveratrol and various other antioxidents along with fish oil, co-enzyme q-10, natural HGH etc. It's a little too late for my generation but if we help our grandchildren fight the onslaught of all those unwanted antibiotics in our food and strengthen their immune and digestive systems they will live long and (dare I say it) prosper well into the future.

basically you're saying nutrition is the key. that makes sense ("we are what we eat").
is there a particular type of Co-Q10 that you recommend? nutrition science seems to be in its infancy. also, what about glyconutrients? there seems to be a big stir lately about those -- certain types of sugars that the body uses not as fuel to burn but in building cellular structures, etc.
please share more of your knowledge in this area, chick.
thanks! and long life to YOU!!

It depends on my ability to do things I enjoy. I feel my time is up when I can't drive and work on my vehicles and take care of my home and property. I have no desire to live to be 100 if I have to sit around and wait to pass on!

Life must be enjoyed no matter what effect it has on your longevity. There is no point in living to be 100 if one is racked with arthritic pain, cancer , Alzheimer's , or whatever. I think at the moment we are conceived our path in life is (more or less) set. If we are predisposed to drinking then we drink, if we love salads and healthy food then thats what we eat. If we cannot resist cheese, meat, rich foods then we get a lot of enjoyment in life just eating. However if that makes us fat and/or unhealthy and unhappy then we make decisions. Eat and be fat, diet and be thinner - the choice path depends on what will make us the happiest.
I know people who lived to near 100 and were fat happy and never exercised. My Uncle and Aunt were heavy smokers and drinkers and lived into their 90s. I also know people who died young from smoking, eating rich food, drinking and stress (or combinations thereof).
The world is full of knowledge - very easy with the internet. Learn about food, health etc and make your choice and enjoy life.

I enjoy my life every day, and I continue to live my dream. If I live to be 100, okay, but I am just as happy if I should die much earlier. If I could no longer live my dream, then I have no desire to get to 100.
