I read in the Bulletin that AANR Tomorrow didnt pass.I was just wondering how many thought this was a good ideal?

It was a bad idea. They pulled it before the vote because they got so many bad opinions from members. AANR needs to become the members oriented organization it was meant to be and we need to take it back from the clubs.

Scrap the club admin BS & pettiness.

(Mex, Caribbean, Pac Mex, HI? Fiji).
Alone can revitalize AANR.
& new names:

To understand what AANR Tomorrow was, you have to understand the internal political structure of AANR.

AANR has a board of trustees and directors. Underneath the AANR structure, there is a set of six regional associations - one in the east. One for the midwest. One for the southwest. One for Florida. One for western Canada. One for the far West.

Each one of those has their own political infrastructure. So you have another set of trustees, directors, officers, ambassadors.

AANR Tomorrow would have scrapped, for the most part, the regional structures. Also, up until 2005, there was a body that met at the AANR convention called the "General Assembly" -- kind of like the Congress of AANR club members. Where individuals purchased a "direct" membership, they were represented by a rep at the General Assembly that they elected.

It was (presumably) an attempt to cut down the red tape and various political structures.

It didn't go over at first, because it would have eliminated the regional structures. A scaled-back version was proposed and approved in 2004, and the General Assembly is no more, and AANR is now governed by a board of trustees, some who are elected by members, others by club owners. And the regional structures are still in place.

AANR is actively supporting and encouraging investment in new clubs. On the other hand, AANR does not "own" the clubs, no more than AAA owns hotels.

There already are officers (not offices!) on a regional basis. You can find them and contact them.

Clothes-free.com does a great job on online marketing. TNS has some awesome events, and AANR is now trying to take the politics out of their conventions and actually turn them into fun events.

Clubs establish themselves and their membership composition by their own rules. But -- check out TNS and their special interest groups (SIGs).

Again, AANR doesn't own and build clubs. Private groups and individuals, and cooperative groups do. However, they certainly encourage investment in clubs.

AANR just had a name change in 1993. Some have suggested AANL - American Association for Nude Living... but a name change, re-branding, etc. would be awfully expensive. Use of the word "Naturist" or "Naturism" could also lead to other difficulties (there is a Naturist Society)...

Sure. All you have to do is find investors who will take a multi-million dollar flyer on that prime real estate, and hope that there will be enough nudist action to make it pay.

Already is one. American Nudist Research Library in Kissimmee, Florida. Has been there for years.

What "debacle" are you referring to, steven? I think lurk did a good job explaining the points.

I will say one thing about the proposed name change to American Association for Nude Living that lurk referred to: The idea went nowhere because of the pronounciation problem of AANL. It suffers from the Uranus problem.
