My back has been pretty sore as of late. Yesterday while doing my route i finally took off my shorts and decided to enjoy what is left of nights that aren't too cold yet. The difference was amazing. My back barely hurt at all. I kept trying to figure out why. My only guess was that the waste-band of my shorts elevated my back just slightly as I was driving, and this caused me some more pain. The only reason I even have this theory is when i put my shorts back on my back started to hurt again. Anyone have any ideas. Because now my curiosity is all up and raring as i try to figure this out.
Yoga teacher and biomecahnical specialist here well versed in spinal alignment.
The back pain you seem to be suffering from seems likely to be due to muscular tension and poor spinal alignment. You do not say if the pain is lumbar (near bum) or thoracic (near chest). The body was designed to function without any clothes and so any clothes can result in tension. I would either suggest that your muscles are less tense without clothes than with from psychological sources. I doubt that the physical spinal alteration would be relevant. What sport are you referring to? cycling? Do you get the same problems in a car or in a household seat.
Try learning this yoga exercise for the pelvic floor (ignore the rest) Moolabandha or root lock at end of video. Dose this help? A side view of your spine taken while you are standing may help me in explaining your symptoms.
Will try to help if I can; intriguing.

Well it's in the lower back, near my rear end. My route is done driving a car for my work. Now sitting in this chair i'm in right now, my back, and the top of my rear hurt. *oww* I also tried the same thing tonight and got mixed results. My back didn't hurt as much once more but someuimes i did experience some pain.
I think it's the idea that you're focused on being nude while driving and sitting in a chair on the computer and not focusing on your back hurting.
Hmmmmm that is a good theory. I had a thought similar to that, and did not know how to voice it. So here goes.
If you are focusing on your back differently when you are nude, perhaps you are also changing your posture slightly, so that your back is more relaxed. I sometimes get focused on what I am doing, usually at the computer, and then realize that my lower back has tightened right up. If I am not careful, my back gets sore, and then I have to visit the chiropractor.
Yoga helps my neck and back a lot!

While making a long road trip, i stopped along the road side to stretch & give my back a rest. When out of nowhere a hi-way patrol trouper appeared. Ask if i had trouble & i explained what i was doing. He said that if I would remove my wallet from my back pocket that my spine would be straighter. By setting on my wallet it made my back crooked. I didn't have anything to loose so why not give it a try. Haven't sat on my wallet of a long trip sense. maybe it is all in the head but it may be worth a try.

Thats actually a very good idea. I topped driving with my wallet in my back pocket a long time ago. But then I have scoliosis and a very bad back anyway.
William, Have you tried getting a massage? It may be knots in your back causing problems. Right now my wife gives me a massage every few days because the knots in my back get really bad.
You may also want to see your doctor about this. If putting pressure on a specific spot you really should get that looked at.
My husband stopped wearing his wallet in his back pocket, and that helped his back.
I get a therapeutic massage every other week, whether I need it or not. My neck and back have been much happier since I have been doing this. This makes me happier too!

Does your husband do those massages? Since my wife does my massages that makes me much happier. Her too! (although that may be from the after massage activity...)
I don't have the luck of having a pretty lady to give me a massage. I may go see a chiropractor. Oh and the wallet thing. I learned that years ago as well. Sitting on that thing for any serious length of time is horrible on the back.
