Time change sucks

I really don't like time change we go through twice a year. Never have never will. Guess I'll have to move to Arizona.

Do you like it?

Take note Hawaii and some parts of Arizona do not observe daylight savings time.

Officially, it's all part of a system to reduce electricity usage by extending daylight hours, but everyone I know doesn't like the time change, mostly due to it gets too dark too early. I voted no.

Re: Time change sucks

I live in a part of Canada that does not do daylight savings. As a result, we are with BC part of the year and Alberta for the rest. We joke that the world revolves around us. It is a little bit of a pain adjusting to the TV schedule, but that is minor.

I do not miss changing the clocks.

You got it backward.

If we didn't have daylight savings, it would get dark earlier all year round.

Daylight savings changes the time during the longer days of summer and parts of spring and fall so that it stays light later. In winter we return to standard time.

But I do agree that if we didn't change the time, I'd rather stay with Daylight Savings year round rather than standard time.

Re: Time change sucks

I think daylight saving makes sense, from the viewpoint of energy conservation and also because, unless you are a farmer perhaps, it is nice to have long, light evenings. But what gets me is the apparent inability to reach a consensus on WHEN the clocks should change. USA changes on one date, Europe on another, different parts of South America on inconsistent - and variable - dates at both ends of the calendar.

And this year we have Argentina, for which a change to daylight saving on 18 October was announced all over the internet time-change sites, but which suddenly made no change at all apparently because one remote province refused to agree. Talk about the tail wagging the dog! Result: disrupted travel schedules, as the transport companies knew nothing about the change of policy just days before the weekend in question, and lots of wasted time. I happened to be travelling there the day after the supposed change and can personally vouch for these consequences.

In other words, people living in all of Hawaii and some parts of Arizona, the clocks never need changing. Everything looks the same, except the sun seems to be setting more to the north (where I am facing).

Thanks for clarifying!

Re: Time change sucks

I don't like it because it messes with my internal clock. Right now, my body thinks it's 9:30 and I should be in bed.

Thumbs down Re: Time change sucks

I do NOT like Daylight Savings Time. People claim it gives us an extra hour of daylight in the evening but fail to mention it also means an extra hour of night in the morning. No electricity saved since you have to use lights to see in the morning.
In the summer the days are naturally longer, winter has longer nights. I would prefer following the sun. When it's at it's highest and due south it is noon. VERY SIMPLE

If workers want an extra hour of daylight after work they should go in an hour early and get off work an hour early. Maybe we could reduce the JUVY crime rates if kids had to be home at dark at a reasonable time. When I was a kid we had to be in our yard when the street lights came on.
