Nude Places in Mexico

We are getting married in May and will probably go to Mexico (Cancun / cozumel areas) for our honeymoon. We are wondering if anyone can recommend a all inclusive resort that has eiter a nude beach or pool area. We have heard about the Carribean Reef Club, it's a little to small for us. We would like a bigger place. Oh yeah the beach must be a legal one.

The November edition of "The Bulletin" from AANR (American Assiciation for Nude Recreation) which I received in the mail only a few hours ago, lists an "all inclusive" vacation plan for May 3-10, 2003 at a resort near Cancun Mexico, which includes air travel in the nude from Miami.

Is there something special about Cancun / Mexico, or have you considered other places? jamaica (grand Lidos) are very good for Honeymooners, some have excellent nude options. St. Martin is another choice..more European type beach scene, Orient Beach (mile long beach area) is clothing optional with one naturist resort, Club Orient at the end. check out www.orientbeach.com for info.

I'd be surprised if there are any "legal" nude beaches in Mexico. The most you're likely to get is a beach where nudity is tolerated. And that's good enough if there is a well-established history of toleration.

It's the same thing in Jamaica, where nudity is illegal but tolerated in resorts because the economy depends on tourism. The post above is correct in that the three Grand Lido resorts are wonderful places for honeymoons. GL Negril and GL Sans Souci have c/o beaches and pools. The absolute best of the bunch IMHO is GL Braco, which has a fabulous nude (not c/o) beach, pool, and deluxe housing. It's incredibly romantic, and may be the only resort in the world where the nude facilities, including housing, are better than the textile side.

Each of these three all-inclusive resorts does a large business in weddings and honeymoons. Since the wedding is free, you can have both wedding and honeymoon for the price of just the honeymoon. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif[/img]

By European, the island is owned half by France, half by Netherlands (Holland / Dutch whatever). The french side is where Orient beach is. The economy is a little better there, because it is a French territory, so there is no need for an all-inclusive. (All-inclusives were started because areas either had too much crime, or not enough outlying businesses to support the travelers needs). So the Hotels offer basic amenities, with many private restaurants / shops etc in town. As far as this BB is concerned, the Orient Beach is clothing optional and the other beaches are "typical French" (I haven't been to France, but keep listening). There is a higher percentage of European visitors, and many businesses are run by French people. The ladies will be seen wearing thongs and topless very commonly, the guys may wear thongs or the speedo type suits. Naturally, there is plenty of American wear too, but you are not out of place dressing European for the Beach. And on Orient Beach you need not wear anything, especially at Club Orient, a resort on the south end of the beach (naturist resort). Most nudist stay in front of Club O, however, since the beach is all public, there is no legal line for nudity, and anyone may go in front of Orient. Nudity is tolerated all along Orient Beach, just some restaurants require bottoms covered. This toleration of nudity in several degrees is what I mean as "European". Americans have either a nude / prude mentality, with the prudes not wanting to be near the nudes and vice versa. Also in America, thongs and / or topless is rare, and many resorts in Foreign destinations that are frequented by Americans, like Jamaica, Mexico, PR, The Virgin Islands, Bahamas, etc stick to these same norms of no nudity or topfreedom. Granted, topfreedom and thongs are seen at some of the places mentioned, but is is a huge minority. Of course this is a gross generalization, but that is what I mean by "European"
