Great news it's not against the law to swim naked in Sausalito!
August 8, 2005 — In a city where tourists stroll along the waterfront and dine in restaurants overlooking San Francisco Bay, a nude swimmer is causing quite a stir - shocking diners and prompting calls to the police.
He makes fly-bys," City Manager Dana Whitson said. "Usually, people look for seals. Some of the diners are kind of surprised."
Police have received at least two reports in the past three weeks of a man swimming au naturel in the afternoon near the Spinnaker restaurant and Schoonmaker Point Marina, according to Police Detective William Fraass.
"We don't get many naked-people-swimming-in-the-bay calls," he said.
Attempts made by the police to catch the swimmer bare-bottomed have met with failure.
"We are still looking because we want to talk to him and see what is going on," Fraass said. "We want to inform him of the calls from the public and get his side of the story. Right now, no laws have been broken, but we are still investigating."

Nude AL
Can you honestly imagine some police officer actually wanting to talk to a nudist, and ask why he is swimming naked in the waterfront. Now yes it is a little disrespectful if he just wants the attention, because over all that will leave a bad impression on the good nudists that would never in a million years do something like that.
Yes I have been a nudist for 20 yrs, but what this person is doing is not good. I respect everyone whom is a nudist period. And also the friendships that I have made over the years.
Just a few thoughts that came to my mind.

It might be a trick!!
Remember when you were young and you did something you knew might be wrong? So then your mom acted all friendly....and you felt the coast was clear, but once you were within grasp.....she had you by the ear.

Actually I can believe that Sausalito might not have any laws against public nudity. It's not your typical US town.
However that guy may be working at getting an anti-nude law passed. The Spinnaker is an extremely popular restuarant built on a pier over the water, so he's attracting the attention of dozens of people who weren't looking for that particular sort of view when they went to an upscale place to dine.
This doesn't have a direct connection to the news item, but anyone from Sausalito who wants to swim nude has a choice of several beaches that are commonly used nude within just a few minutes drive.

The guy is not a nudist, just a form of streaking to get attention. The articles says it correctly "a nude swimmer"
