I have noticed recently that certain individuals are calling for Stu to 'get off the board' and not post anymore, presumably because they think he is banging the same drum about his attitude towards naturism - an attitude they don't agree with.

Well excuse me but how hypocritical can you get??!! Claims about 'naturism' per se accepting everybody, being non-judgemental, open to other views etc. seem to evaporate the moment someone has the nerve to come on this board and offer an alternative point of view.

I would imagine everyone here considers themself a tolerant, enlightened individual able to accept people for what they are.

Some on this board have demonstrated that is obviously not the case where Stu is concerned. At the very least his views are consistent and reasoned, even if his 'reasoning' is not to the liking of a few folk here.

Telling someone to 'go away and not upset me anymore' is just so incredibly immature.
You know who you are - grow up, please!!

I've been watching this board for months and have posted several topics and responded to some too. What I have seen is that there are as many diverse points of view and levels of hypocracy here as in any other group of people, the fact that people here share a love of nudism/naturism seems to be one of the few common factors.

I have noticed several people spouting homophobic nonsence and the zenophobic views boggle the mind. It seems that people all over the world of all nations, creeds and colours seem to find it easier to believe steriotypes rather than learn from others; dismissing those who are different as being wrong makes the individual feel superior, people like that do not want to admit that they might be wrong so do not seek to find out more about that which they dislike.

Each person has a set of values, friends and views which make them feel good, that is there comfort zone if you like. We gravitate to those who share part or all of that comfort zone, in this group the common ground is naturism, that certainly does not mean that we all agree about every aspect of the lifestyle. An example of this is my hobby of canoeing/kayaking, I enjoy paddling on whitewater and playing in wiers, these are just two aspects of the sport, I am not into raceing or canoe polo or even extreme creeking(jumping off waterfalls in kayaks), this does not make those elements any less important, they are just not to my taste. I hope that analagy(sp?) works, the point is that as we are all different, we cannot expect others to see things the way we do.

I hope that boards like this where there is a diversity of view points can be a means to bringing us together and to mutual understanding. I try to treat all others the way I would wish to be treated myself, if others did the same we could have great debates where we all learn together to be better ambassidors for our lifestyle.

Perhaps this is too simplistic, so what, it could start a debate as to how we can show those lurkers what a great way of life we have and encourage others to join in with our lifestyle.

Bryony H,
Regarding your last paragraph; I have no missionery zeal for persuading others to adopt the "naturist lifestyle".
If they want to join in, fine, but if not, then that is also fine with me. However, I do want advancement toward acceptance, and even appreciation, for those who do favor the naturist lifestyle, and I hope that all humans can accept their nudity shamelessly.

My comments are based on the way we are seen by others who visit this board. Many people who come here have a genuine interest in the lifestyle, if this is the first time that they encounter naturists, then those who post here (and their views) reflect on us all. people who take the time to find out about us might well be put off by some of the posts I have read here. to gain widespread acceptance is a great aim, therefore we should not alienate those who would be interested from the outset as that would be counter productive.
