your very first time in a nudist environment

Hey I'm the very first person to start a new topic in this new forum. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

As someone who is a little interested and curious about the nudist scene, I would like to read postings from you members about the first time you went naked in a nudist camp/club whatever. Were you nervous about stripping off and walking around naked in front of all those strangers? Were you embarassed? Did it go well or not so well?

In particular I would like to read postings from members who tried the naturist scene alone, but if you tried it with your partner/family then thats also ok.

Me? Well I've yet to try it!

Well, my first naturist experience was Higbee beach in New Jersey. I was nervous, as I am way way overweight, but as I got on the beach I saw a woman washing off sand in the surf. She was bigger than me, and I figured if she could stay there in such serene confidence, so could I. My second excursion was a canoe trip with the Paddling Bares. They said canoeing was just as easy riding a bike. Well, thank God for personal floatation devices! Next was a party thrown by another New Jersey group; way too much sexual tension happening there.

My first resort was Lupin in California. I had always read how you always sit on a towel. Well, almost nobody at that party had done that, so, I didn't bother to dig my towel out of my bag as I was waiting for the intro tour at Lupin. God, I thought they were going to throw me out. They didn't, but he gave me the dirtiest look I ever want to get.

Still, I have been to Lupin about four or five times, and it is my favorite spot.

My first time naked in a clothing-optinal setting was way back in 1988, at the University of California at Berkeley. I had read in the newsgroup "rec.nude" (long before most people knew about it) about a clothing-optional sundeck next to one of the pools there.

I went to check it out one weekend. It was a space enclosed by thick canvas curtains (though open to the sun!), and I was the only one there. No signs were present to say "clothing-optional", so I was at a bit of a loss as to whether I was even in the right place! So I stayed in my shorts and started reading the book I'd brought. After a few hours, somebody else showed up and disrobed, so I knew I was in the right place.

That spot became my favorite place to study. Since you had to get dressed again if you wanted anything (a drink, a potty break, whatever), you tended to stay with your task. (I did *not* want to get dressed again, once I got there.)

I only wish that I'd been more bold at the time and told friends where I was studying, or getting to know the other people who showed up there. I was probably surrounded by more open-minded people when I was at college than I will be anytime in the future --- I think now that I could have had a number of naked friends during that time...

My first experience was on my 40th birthday. I had always wanted to try the nude scene. I called a resort and got in for the day. I loved it and have been hooked ever since. My wife thought I was weird (we're divorced now) but I loved it.

My first time was last year at age 55. I'm divorced and a granddad. I joined alone at Forest Hills Club in Saranac, MI. The first day I went there I undressed at the car and thought, "Well, here goes." My fear was that some little boy who had more than I did would point at me and laugh. I'm built smaller than average. No one pointed or laughed, and I was hooked from then on.

Now I go to Turtle Lake Resort in Union City, MI because it's closer to me, cheaper, and a lot bigger with more to do. It also has over 160 acres with plenty of room to ride a bicycle. First time was at a nude beach in So. Cal. A little nervous at first. Found a out of the way spot so I could people watch and learn the routine. Sat alone for a few hours when two young women came near and stretched out their blanket. I felt good that they seemed to trust me. They smiled and waved. We had general ice breaking conversation, weather, first time here , etc.

Not long after that a guy with a polaroid camera sat behind me and was taking pictures of these girls. First time to the beach and I had to run some undesirable off. The ladies were thankful and talkative afterward. We began a more in depth conversation and alot of questions and concerns I had were answered. Aterward I felt good about talking to my wife about going with me.

We visited that beach for the first time together 3 summers ago and since then have returned to the beach dozens of times a year and have now started to visit resorts.

Nudists are fun loving, normal everyday people.

My first time social nudism outing was with friends in college. A small group of us decided to go camping as a break during finals week and only after we got to the lake decided to go swimmning. Since no one had thought to bring suits, we went skinnydipping. Unfortunately, it was cool enough at night that we all got dressed again and sat around the fire instead of staying naked.

I still go hiking occasionally -- alone. I have a few friends who I think might be interested, but getting our schedules together is a major pain....

I thought a lot about how I first wanted to experience nudism. After reading about Cap D'agde in France, I was hooked. I thought about a travel agency but I was to shy so I booked the trip myself.

I would highly recommend France for your first time. The people are wonderful. I spent the first few hours still clothed just to get up my courage. Then I went back to my room and left my clothes behind. Just that simple, no embarrassment, no shame, just pure freedom.

I have been back twice since then. I have also been to several resorts in the Caribbean but I will always love France.
