First you see it, then you don't!
Whatever happened to the polite exchange of viewpoints on "the love that dare not speak its name"?

I get so many good laughs off this forum.
I don't wonder I don't watch TV any more!

It fell victim to the hatred that feels no shame.

I've never been a website moderator, so what I am about to say is hypothetical, but this would be my suggestion:
For any post that gets completely, or partially deleted, the poster privately warned, and publicly named, in that thread, by the moderator.
For a second deletion, in that thread, 7 days off the forum, and the poster publicly named.
For a post which is considered, by at least 2 moderators, to be a deliberate attempt to have that whole thread deleted, 4 weeks off the forum, and the poster publicly named.
I don't want to see anything deleted, or anyone banned either temporally, or permanently, but I'm not happy at the apparent expectation that a thread will inevitably be banned, not because we may disagree with one another, but because some of us don't always remember our manners.

Further to my last post.
Another series of posts have been deleted, in response, I believe, to a particularly unpleasant and unjustified insinuation. [This is my interpretation, I may be wrong.]
I would suggest that subsequent unoffensive posts could have been left in. Apart from any other consideration, this could serve to remind the author of the deleted post, that their comment could perhaps have been made in a more acceptable manner.

Rex, I am almost positive that I know what the offense was, and if we are talking about the same thing, it was a malicious reckless charge of the worst sort.
But as ugly as these words were, they were merely a few paragraphs in an otherwise enlightening thread.
Sadly, one of the administrators is shooting flies off the wall with a shotgun and wiping out days of meaningful dialog rather than snipping a few lines of text.
We can try to remind him (whoever it may be) that we find the treatment almost as bad as the malady.

Thanks, Trailscout, for your comments.
It reminds me a bit of when I was at school, and the whole school was kept back in detention, just because one unknown person had broken some rule.
Surely we've gone beyond that concept of "justice".
A appreciate the moderators, and everyone else in INA, for all the good work they do, work which I would neither want to do, nor know how to do.
But surely there's a better way out of the present series of situations.
A person with a certain kind of ability could even become skilled at getting whole threads deleted, by using insinuations which they could defend as being "misunderstood", in the event they were challenged.
