How do we all do on Christmas Day ?

Hey fellow naturists, RT here again. I have been rather busy the past few weeks so my apologies for not replying to any of the posts or adding new ones.

It's cricket season down here and my bro and mates have been spending all our spare time at the cricket. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi ! My apologies to the English readers but Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi !

Well, on with the subject, What does everyone do on Christmas day ? Us Turnbulls have an awesome Christmas Day, we wake up and head over to the rents place, open up our chrissy presents then it BBQ time, BBQ King prawns, Lobster, Balmain Bugs, Morton Bay Bugs, mmmm mmmm. A fiest for a king, we have all the relo's over and sit by the pool feasting, Oh ! and a few cool ales. In the afternoon we relax and have a few ours sleep before Christmas dinner which is basically the left over lunch BBQ stuff.

RT signing out and wish all the INA Forum regulars an awesome Christmas an even an awesomer New Year. Oh ! and Happy Hannakah to all our Jewish friends.

Depending on which side of the family we're celebrating with, we either open presents on Christmas Eve, after a large, traditional turkey dinner, or we wait until Christmas morn, and after reading the Christmas story from Luke Chapter 2, we hand out presents, and rip the stuffing out of some wrapping paper! Then we enjoy a large breakfast, usual southern fare--bisquits and gravy, grits, etc. Then we wait until late afternoon for the Christmas meal of ham, rolls, gravy, green bean casserole, and iced tea. Later in the evening, we sing carols around the fireplace and sip hot cocoa and egg nog.

I don't have a christmas being here in Turkey - 24th,25th December are just normal days for me - I will be working!! Oh well, News Years Eve is another story.

Turkey sounds a good place to be at Christmas.

Here in the UK the first signs of Christmas usually start in the shops in September (yes September!). Christmas related activity (i.e. shopping and drinking) grows over the coming months until it reaches fever pitch during the last two or three weeks before the 25th when you'd swear the world was about to come to an end as people panic to buy any old rubbish to give to their nearest and dearest, cram themselves into overcrowded pubs and restaurants so they can have a Christmas drink or meal with people they wouldn't normally pass the time of day with (i.e. work colleagues) and, oh yes, wear a stupid paper hat.

By comparison Christmas Day is an anti-climax: an excuse to "pig out" on chocolate and turkey(!), drink yourself stupid and slump in front of the telly watching the same old garbage that you watched last year.

When so many in this world have so little it seems obscene to be part of this excess and greed.

Hello RT..I've never been a huge fan of Christmas
but after reading Rik's last post..I'm downright
depressed!
Rik made a lot of great points. The excess is not
limited to the UK. Here in this country there is
overspending..people run up their credit cards.
Too much drinking and driving..too much over-eating. But we do get to hang out with family.
I'm greatful for my siblings in Southern California.

Now that the kids are in the teens we sleep till 8 or 9 instead fo the 5 or 6 wake up call when they were little. Eat breakfast then open our presents, call our parents and spend the day at home relaxing. By the way scince we're all natruists here how many of you spend the day the natural way?

Christmas is major production around my family, and this year more so than most as my brother and sister-inlaw are bringing their new baby boy home from France. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif[/img] [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
First on Christmas Eve we all meet at my Mom's for a late casual diner, have a few drinks and sit around a fire. After chating a while the whole family goes to Midnight Mass. After Mass we go back to Mom's, light a new fire, eat Greek shortbread and fruit cake well soaked in Brandy and Rum. As most of us have to drive liquor is kept to a mininum. Christmas Day is also spent at Mom's, we don't open presents until late afternoon, then comes the feast. Everyone contributes, there are 5 adult siblings plus mates and our children, each "family" brings stuff for diner, and one of us does the bird (it rotates amoung us) Mom doesn't have to do anything. After eating far to much it is a group clean up and after diner drinks. By the end of the night our teens become the designated drivers and we head home. Boxing Day, Dec. 26, is also one of my nephew's birthday, so my sister hosts another family diner. By the 27th we are all so overfed we need a break, [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif[/img] but on the 28th I host the gathering of the clan as well as my friends in an all day buffet. Usually by late night on the 28th after the kids are gone the clothes are off and the Hot-tub is full of naked bodies, including a sibling or 2 and maybe a few of the teens. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif[/img] Then comes "New Years" and more food an drink. By Jan. 2nd, I retreat to quite place to recover, [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] this year to Tofino on Vancouver Island for working holiday that will include a trip to Hotsprings Cove for some relief in a natural Hotspring during storm season. RT: BBQ King is my fav restaurant in Sydney. Love the duck, prawns are good too. While in Sydney my boss & I used to go there every couple weeks.

When I was younger we did the usual gift giving thing. But now my parents are seperated so I usually spend the holidays with my mother. This year I worked at a soup kitchen then drove up to my Mom's and had dinner and exchanged a few gifts.

I know you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but lately I've been driving down to NYC to watch the Macy's parade and enjoy the wonderful city.
