We are thinking about moving, but where to? We currently are living in California but the economy stinks and is getting worse. What we are thinking about is just leaving California all together. What do we want?
1. a decent economy
2. during the summer 80's or better, Winter cold but preferbly no snow perhaps just close to snow so we can go play.
3.A good place to raise kids.
4. I like trees, country atmisphere, the wife says not in the middle of nowhere with no one around.
I am open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Cookie Monster
By the way, it could be near naturist resorts to that would be cool.

Ok I made a mistake. Dont nessisarily (sp)have to leave Ca. and as for snow she will live where it snows as long as we dont get snowed in "I just dont want to get like four feet of snow and not be able to get out".
As for me I dont mind the snow.
Thanks

Opps, I did some wrong.
What I was going to say is that Cape Cod,Ma. is a fantastic place to live from what I can see so far.
My wife and I are both retired and moved here last July and we absolutly love it here. We moved from up near the N.H. border(lots of snow). Down here, normally there is little snow, which disappears quickly because of the sandy soil. This has been an unusual winter.
Let me know if you want to know more. Oh yes there is a beautiful nudist resort just a half hour from our house(mid-Cape).
Good luck in your search,

I've lived in middle Tennessee all of my life. Nashville is a medium-sized city with many smaller cities around it. Most people live 10-50 miles from Nashville or a smaller city in what a lot of people would call "the country" and drive to work in the city.
Although the state sales tax was just raised because the government can't control their spending (to 7% on non-food items), it is a relatively easy place to get by financially. There are several large companies (Nissan, Saturn, Dell, Purity Dairy, Dollar General, to name a few) that are either based or have a large presence here. We just elected a new governor. Maybe he can get the budget under control and make things a lot better.
The summer is usually humid and relatively hot (80's-90's F for highs). The winters are usually mild with several cold snaps. The cold snaps usually last a few days and drop the nighttime lows to around 0F but rarely below and daytime highs into the 20's F. We have gotten more snow this year than usual (as has most of the East coast). Usually we only get a couple of dustings or maybe 1"-2" each winter. The usual winter temps are in the 30F-40F for highs. You can look on http://www.weather.com and see the average highs and lows.
There are three resorts in Tennessee. Rock Haven in Murfreesboro, Cherokee Resort in Crossville, and Timberline Resort (The one that I attend) also in Crossville. I drive about 90 minutes to get from Nashville to Timberline and it is worth the drive.
Hope that puts Tennessee in a sufficiently good light.

Actually Oakhurst, California is just about 2 to 3 hours from you and it matches everything you said to a tee. It has pine and oak trees. It is about 10 minutes from snow in the winter and over 80 in the summer. It is about 20 miles south of Yosemite's entrance. The only thing lacking is a naturist resort nearby. BUT, the Falls at Bass Lake is just 7 minutes away and is a great place to skinnydip. I moved up here from Los Angeles many years ago and will stay here.
