Having a religious background, I thought I'd share this with everyone. This is words that I couldn't have said any better myself.
Check out www.reject-shame.com and read the articles.
Especially the ones about abuse and pedophilia. It talks about nudism/naturism being the key to solving those problems of abuse and pedophilia in society. And I believe every word of it!

Thanks very much Dale, but I'd say comfort with nudity is A key (and I believe a very important one) to solving sexual abuse and pedophilia, but
NOT THE key. These are very complex issues and while I have heard some reports that these problems are virtually non-existant in "primative" cultures where nudity is the everday dress, I don't think that nudity alone will solve them in this culture.
There's got to be a fundimental shift not just in acceptance of nudity, but attitudes about ourselves, other people, differences between people, the body, sexuality and more.
Nate

With all the material out there, it's amazing that more web-savvy Christians aren't throwing off body-shame with their clothes!

^^ Shame, Children, and Abuse
A good article that begins by discussing "how children are taught shame". Reminds me of a certain family I know well, whose 3-year-old child not too long ago happily came out of her bedroom naked, and now does not. How did the mother respond? Sometimes by asking questions to the child: "why can I see your bare bum?", "why are you naked?"--as though the child knew the answer. Other times by passing the buck to me or whatever males are present: "The boys don't like to see you naked." She doesn't know I'm a nudist.
I guess I shouldn't be too critical: sometimes I have to babysit her a little, and tend to just tell her "NO", or take whatever thing she shouldn't be fooling around with, rather than try to explain why she can't do that or have that. I guess I should try to be better in that regard in the future.
Anyways, I was probably raised the same way (though childhood memories fade). I might be a father someday, and had I not discovered naturism, no doubt I'd raise my kids the same way.
