I had thought that body shaving was something new in Britain - and while growing in popularity still had a long way to go. I was amazed therefore to read in today's Times a quote from Julius Caesar from his visit here 2,000 years ago "All the Britons dye their bodies with woad, which produces a blue colour, and shave the whole of their bodies except the head and the upper lip"
Maybe our ancestors knew something many our contemporaries don't !

That blue people and a cold climate scares italians?
Modern society would do well to recall this knowledge.

I have old nudist pictures from the 1920's that show women that are shaved. This is only a repeat of the past just like most other trends.

Anyone in their right mind would be afraid of smurfs.

Actually, I believe ancient Egyptians shaved their bodies as well.

Maybe the reason was then the pubic lice and other lice. They were also the reason why comb was invented.

Yes, they did. Hawaiian cheifs did this as well.
Shaving/waxing is by no means new.

Ran across an article about this in Playboy recently. One of the main points was that shaving also removed odor. Which is true. That puts it right in the Hygene arena. Without elaborating, it cuts the urine smell. Frank

I am who I am, if I was meant to be nude, I would have been born that way.
