Converting my wife/Cypress Cove

My wife (age 42) and I (age 37) are taking a vacation to Florida in July. We are starting out on a "clothed" vacation (in Ft Lauderdale, then Orlando), but I added 3 days / 2 nights at Cypress Cove to the tail end. Luckily she didn't kill me and didn't ask me to cancel (a good sign [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif[/img] ). But, she has treatened to stay in the room the whole time (joking I hope).

Unfortunately, she is not that comfortable with her body. She is a little over average weight and has a little bit of a gut, but I love her body all the same. And I reminder of that often. She is comfortable enough to where we watch TV nude almost every night [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] . And we have nude dinners on occasion when its warm enough [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] . We don't have kids.

To date, I have taken her to 3 different "nude public" venues. The first was Mazo beach in Wisconsin, but she didn't want to get nude. I think all the single men really turned her off. I later learned that nude beaches are the last place to take newbies. The second was Lake O' the Woods in Indiana. Again she didn't go nude. There was this one wierd single guy that really made her uncomfortable [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif[/img] . But, she did go topless on the hiking trails [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] . Later she wanted to cool off in the pool, but I neglected to tell her about the "nude pool rule" ahead of time (big mistake [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif[/img] ). She wanted to leave.

The 3rd time, we went to Couples, Ocho Rios Jamaica for a 2nd honeymoon. They have a "nude island". We checked it out and she actually got nude! [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] (I told her about the "nude rule" ahead of time this time). But even on the island, she didn't want to mingle with anybody or get in the pool. We stayed on the "secluded" sunning decks and explored the tower, but didn't interact with anyone. She even got nervous when we spotted another couple we had talked to briefly on the clothed part of the resort.

Which brings me to my questions ...

When we visit Cypress Cove, what would be the best way to ease her into going nude with me?

I am thinking of suggesting that she wear a robe down to the hot tub. Or, maybe we could start out doing a little nude sunbathing away from everyone else.

Or, maybe I should mention to the staff that we are newbies and they should introduce us to another couple (I have mixed feelings about that because of the anxiety she had seeing that other nude couple at Couples - but the order would be reversed this time - she would be seeing this couple nude first).

Any other ideas, thoughts would be welcome.

Sounds like she's coming around to our way of thinking already, just maybe not as quickly as you'd like. I'd recommend buying her a "sarong" (I think that's what they're called) basically a wrap around that can be opaque, but generally accepted in nudist venues. It can be worn different ways to cover or expose, and sometimes just as a fashion accesory. That way she can mingle fully covered, and when she's ready, she can just reposition it to go topless or roll it and tie like a belt as a decoration or accent for the naked body. Don't worry, Cypress Cove is a great place to meet new people (of all shapes and sizes), so she should feel comfortable in no time.

Since your plans are made to go to Florida very soon, in July, this suggestion is probably too late.

If you went on a weekday and not on a week-end, to the clothing-optional Turtle Lake Resort at Union City in southern Michigan you would find it quite different from Lake O' The Woods. Some semblance of semi-privacy could be found away from other people on that large beach area, by sitting seperately and away from the others. There are lounge chairs provided that you can pull over there to use to sit surrounded with lots of area space, under or among the huge evergreen trees, away from the others. This is a large area. Since this is a clothing optional resort it would not be shocking to see that your wife is not totally nude. Your wife could remove, or not remove, as much clothing as her comfortable level would allow her at the moment. Lounging, relaxed, in the sunlight or in the shade, in the beauty of nature, would foster a greater acclimation of the naturist/nudist environment.

Swimming in their lake or the indoor pool, as you would know, is "nude only". You indicated that your wife likes to enter the water. Now, in the beginning at least, she probably would not want to swim in their lake, as it is too much of a public view.

However, Turtle Lake has a very large clubhouse, which is where the indoor pool is also located, and at times during the middle of the week, for instance, you may find that everyone else apparently is down at the lake and beach, and the swimming pool will be empty or nearly empty, intermittantly, and your wife could choose at what point she may feel comfortable swimming nude in that pool. When she gets out of the pool she could put a large towel around her or a robe to walk to the women's side shower room, if she is still shy. (I do not have much knowledge about that side). Incidentally, the shower room on the other side is totally "co-od", if you both wish, by then, to shower together, "openly, freely".

Just a note: all the showers at the Clubhouse are co-ed. But on the 'womens' side there are individual stalls instead of one big open shower room.
