My home is on the banks of a river that has no commercial traffic and some recreational traffic. At times, it is possible for boaters to see me nude through the trees. Should I make an effort to hide?

I'm not sure about the laws in your area, but I wouldn't stress about it too much. If they put in the effort to notice that you are naked through the trees, most would have a giggle and then leave it at that. That is just my guess. People have come across my friends and myself, skinnydipping and nothing ever happened over it.

They might make it a frequent route when their on the boat, but I am sure no one would complain about that. Have fun naked.

Where do you go skinnydipping? I see you live in the same city as I.

I wouldn't take cover or hide. Unless they are just floating by, they are probably going too fast to see much. By the time they've gone past, they are probably asking each other..."was that guy naked?"

Most people, I feel, are envious. In there minds they are probably thinking, "I wish I could do that!"

A several summers ago, my wife and I were on a annual waverunner ride down the Colorado river. It was mid week and the activity on the river was really quiet. Not many boats at all. We decided to make the trip naked. We took off our suits and rode with just life jackets on. We past a young lady that was nude sunbathing on the beach, when we approached she covered herself with a towel, as we got closer, she noticed we were naked. She waved at us, smiled and uncovered. Same trip we spent the day on the lake with the waverunners. We found a cove to lay out nude. A couple of other boats entered the cove but only one stayed. I got on a waverunner and went for a nude ride. When I was returning, the other family was enjoying the water and sun nude also, they also waved and continued without covering up. Wish we had gone over and talked with them, but my wife was not into the social aspect of the lifestyle at that time.

Halfsn, Back then it was on clear creek inside the Wheatridge Greenbelt. Since then they've put more paths in and can't easily do that kind of thing anymore. A lot more people have easier access to the river now. If you go into clear creek canyon between Golden and Idaho Springs, there are alot of secluded spots. If you can, go on a week day, there'll be less picnicers or rafters and kyakers (I don't think I spelled that right) There are lots of places , but by the time I write them all down I'll have a novel going. P.S. Becareful of Rattlers in the canyon and the higher up into the mountains you go, the colder the water is.

I've thought about this scenario a few times myself since I find myself taking a few more risks that usual. But I've come to the rational that if someone has to make an "effort" to see me naked on my own property, and wants to complain to the authorities, then I feel I'd have a counter-complaint of invasion of privacy. I don't know how such an argument would hold up in court (and I hope I never have to find out), but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! lol

As far as seeing you through the trees? It would depend on just how thin or thick the trees are I would think. I mean, if you're talking open spaces with a few trees, I'd at least consider planting shrubs or other types of natural barrier. No point in asking for trouble you don't need. Good Luck!!!

In Singapore, I'd take off my suit soon as I got maybe 100 meters off shore. Just clipped it with a clip to a halyard. EVERY time when I capsized, I'd have to swim around to where my suit was clipped and put it on because, invariably, someone would come by to rescue me. Makes me wonder how many were always watching.

I rigged my boat in the yard for a year there in a thong before someone advised me that that day was regatta weekend, and there were lots of kids about. Felt like asking, "What's that got to do with the price of tea in China", but didn't.

I don't know the answer to the overall question here, but just because someone can see into your private property from a public place doesn't mean they're committing an invasion of privacy. It depends a bit on what you call making an "effort". Just seeing into someone's property from a public waterway, or road, or even overlooking from an adjoining residence, is not really making an 'effort' or an invasion of privacy. However, if someone was deliberately climbing a big tree and getting out their binoculars for the purpose of spying on you, that's a different matter.

Here in Sydney it's quite common for boats to cruise past the nude beaches or even drop anchor offshore - but of course those are places where public nudity is legal.
