I was just listening to NPR news and they had a feature on the clothing optional restaurant in Manhattan. The reporter (a female) gave a very comprehensive description of the experience she had going to the restaurant participating in the nude experience.

She interviewed the owner as well as some of the patrons. She talked about the fact that it was a totally non-sexual experience, and that people were very relaxed (including herself) after the initial embarasement of being nude around others.

The entire story was extremely positive, and there was not one shallow inuendo about nudists being somehow different from others. She did a very good job about explaining the way people seem to be more relaxed around others who are nude, without any pretentions by reason of wearing clothes.

It was, by far, the best, most positive description of the nudist experience I have ever heard on a major media outlet. I suspect you can hear it on their website, and if you can, perhaps someone (with better computer skills than myself) could post it.

I found the story under 'People and Places" tab on npr site in previous post. Kind of neat listening.

Trailscout is on a distinguished road
I hope that this is but the first of many clothing-optional commercial establishments throughout the country.

Naked Dining in Manhattan - once a month in New York a particular group of friends gather to dine at various restaurants around Manhattan (nude).

Gwen Macsai brings us this report from her first clothing optional dinner at Dorian's.

Weekend Edition Saturday August 13 2005.

I have just heard the report on Naked Dining in Manhattan and I feel that it is without doubt one of the fairest pieces of reporting I have ever heard and I think the reporter said she had gone naked herself, which makes it even better as she is also passing on her own experiences to her listeners which is a fantastic thing to do. Very positive description of the nudist experience I have ever heard.

usuallylurk will become famous soon enough
Just to make it clear - the New York dinners are clothing optional --BUT -- the restaurant is NOT a "clothing optional" restaurant - except on certain evenings.
