UK nudist beaches

Hey, what happened to the Rio's Naturist Health Club thread?

Anyway, onot this new thread. After visiting 2 nudist beaches in Australia recently, and being very dissapointed at what I found. I'm just wondering if anyone could post reports of what the UK nudist beaches are like. Are they as bad as the Aussie ones - i.e. about 95% male? I hope not!

The only nude beach I know of in the UK is Brighton nudist beach. What's it like? Haven't actually visited that beach itself, but I know that it's situated east of the main beach and is located right on the seafront, so chances are a lot of clothed people go there to gawk at the naked people.

I think that the reputation of Brighton Beach, and possibly it's closeness to the town centre, does deter some people, particularly women and also it's not a particularly attractive beach. Probably the best official beaches are Studland, which I don't know but reports seems very favourable, and Morfa Duffryn in North Wales with is a maginificent beach but also seems to attract a small number the "dune dwellers" which may make some people feel uncomfortable.

It strikes me that you need to get away form English speaking countries to experience nude beaches without the sexual overtones which seem to deter some people from practising beach nudism. I thoroughly reccommend the beaches of North and West Holland (i.e. the North Sea Coast). See the map at this URL to get an idea of the number of beaches http://home.hccnet.nl/e.stevenhagen/z/k2.htm. For more predictable weather you could try the east coast of France where there are numerous beaches. Re; Brighton - the main problem for me isn't the 'gawkers' - they have to walk along the beach to see you - more the fact that....................[ whisper ] it's not a very nice beach.

My first visit to a naturist beach was when I was 17 and went to Brighton. At that age I was interested in naturism but didn't have the nerve to try it. I think that this was the year after it was officially designated - and I went for a jolly good gawk at the nuddies. It was quite funny to see all the people walking along the promenade detour via the naturist section before returning to the promenade!

Many years later, I discovered that actually there was nothing to this nudity lark, and the problem was getting through the psychological barrier of taking my clothes off in public for the first time. After ten minutes (when I was 35), I was a total convert and there was no stopping me!

My favourite beach though is Morfa Dyffryn at Dyffryn Ardudwy in North Wales (it's only about 35 miles from here). As part of the designated nude area, the local byelaws forbid 'sunbathing' in the dunes area - this has helped to get rid of some of the gawkers.
