Has anyone been to Burning Man?

I understand that this is not a nudist event, but some people do choose to attend the event clothes-free.

I have looked at several web pages on the subject, but I would like to have some opinions from people at this message board.

Thanks!

Wannabenaked: Yes I was there twice. In '98 and
'99. It's quite an event. Burningman is very hard
to describe if you haven't been there. It's
basically a huge gathering of eclectic free
spirits in the Black Rock desert near Reno.
Every year it's grown. The first time I was
there we had about 18,000 people. I heard last
year they had about 30,000. The organizers
encourage "creative nudity" meaning body painting, costumes etc. It's totally wild and a
great time. I haven't gone lately cause the
ticket price has skyrocketed. They justify the
high cost cause of the expense of cleaning the
area after the event is over.

Burning Man is a great event to attend if you want to experience nudity in a non-nudist community. You can be nude the whole time (weather permitting) and no one will object. Your interactions with people will be the same as if you were wearing clothes.

If you have ever had the "nude among clothed people" dream that many people have (sometimes repeatedly), you can have that experience in real life.

You can have a similar "nude among clothed" experience by being one of the Bare-to-Breakers participants in the annual Bay-to-Breakers 7-mile run/walk in San Francisco in May each year.

Burning Man is an alternative arts festival and a forum for radical self-expression. Its rules are 'no spectators' - everyone participates in some way, and contributes to the atmosphere; 'leave no trace' - pack out absolutely everything you bring in, and help clean the place; 'no commerce' - don't think about selling anything, or buying anything, or bartering anything. Just give and receive.

There are some nude activities - body painting, some body art, the wonderful human car washes; and nudity is always appropriate.

Hello:

Burningman is a GREAT and life changing event. The postings of others are pretty much on the mark. This will be my fifth year at Burningman. I know it sounds weird to say but, I look forward to Burningman year round. It ROCKS.

Your best source of accurate information (as opposed to the Main Stream Media Crap) is:

http://www.burningman.com/

The current ticket price is $ 200.00 ( I think). Yes, it SEEMS expensive however, there ARE LOTS of expenses involved in setting up the event. (There is actually an accounting of the expenses on the website.) It IS worth the money.

In regards to the event itself, "Radical Self-Expression" and "No Spectators" are two of the mantas that you we hear. Get involved in some way. There are MANY Volunteer opportunities and it is a GREAT way to enjoy BurningMan. In regards to being Nude, Go for IT. Weather permitting I am Nude as Much as Possible. BurningMan is an incredible art festival. Art is ALL FORMS. Art that walks and talks, Art that Burns, Art that Moves, Art that Flys, Art in ALL FORMS.

Feel Free to contact me if you have specific questions.
