WERE A NATURIST COUPLE MARRIED 29 YEARS,OWN OUR HOME NEAR SALT LAKE,COLLEGE DEGREE IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT/SOCIAL WORK,TWENTY YEARS EXPERIANCE PROFESSIONALLY IN YOUTH WORK,17 YEARS IN SCOUTING A A VOLUNTEER,30 YEARS IN NATURISM.WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN ALL ADULTS NOW BROUGHT UP AS NATURISTS INCLUDING ONE BOY ADOPTED AT 6,NOW 22,ALL HAVE DONE WELL,COLLEGE DEGREES,FAMILY ETC.
WE WANT TO PROVIDE A LOVING NURTURING HOME FOR ONE OR TWO MORE OLDER OR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN,4-12, BUT DUE TO OUR LIVING IN A 90% MORMON STATE WE NOT ONLY ENCOUNTER NATURIST LIFESTYLE DISCRIMINATION BUT RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION AS WELL.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??

EEO would cover the religious discrimination but they may well get away with it as nudist are not covered. I read recently that Utah had the highest rate of sexual child abuse in the nation. Not quite as bad as California where convicted child molesters are given custody of female children.

No offense intended but... GET THE HELL OUT OF UTAH! It's a border-line theocracy! That's only good if you're part of the mainstream religion.

I agree with NotBob. Of course, moving may not be feasible for you. There are a lot of things to consider, family, friends, job, whatever. However, you have to decide how badly you want to adopt, and if you're willing to make whatever sacrifices are needed.

Just in case you are interested, almost half the population of Salt Lake City is not LDS. Granted, the rest of the state may be but I don't think Utah is known for being friendly to us "non believers".

I don't know about Utah because I have never been there, but elsewhere, specifically here in Texas, Mormons know what it's like to be discriminated against and generally they are very open to other people. They know the golden rule and stick to it, almost to a fault at times. I don't know if your adoption problem is religious at all. If you are outspoken about being a nturist in any state, you would probably encounter adoption problems because it is not accepted on the whole. Just my opinion...

Suggestion #1: Lay off the caps lock.
Suggestion #2: Hire a lawyer who is experienced in adoption law.
