Continuing on that idea of having a nude president, just for arguments sake, lets say we did have one and public nudism was legalized. Do you think people would go naked everywhere or do you think people might avoid it due to possible crizcizism and prejue people and possible harrasement. I know I would happily go shopping naked and do any thing and everything naked. What about you?
And Dukhat, you say it would never happen in the old post. Well I say anythings possble in this life. You never know whats going to happen so have faith and maybe one day it will happen!
Please forgive my bad spelling!

Well, I won't say it'll never happen. But I think we all know that the chance of it happening are mighty slim.
Would be nice though, wouldn't it!

LuckyHeart: I think the chances of it
happening in an "open minded" society like
the Netherlands is far greater than here
in the puritan ethic U.S. However, I think
it's a great idea that would slowly gain
acceptance. I would certainly do my part!

Criticism and harassment is irrelevant because of our extreme diversity and/or lack of knowledge. As a result, not everybody will be happy to see a naked body. Even if we happen to live in a clothing optional country, where nudity is a way of life for everybody. In which our president, and the supreme court, welcomes this life style with open arms. The good news however, is that any verbal form of protest in the public eye, would do very little; if any, for the opposition of those who denounces this new sense of freedom. A freedom that this country is sorely lacking. Case in point, your typical hard core conservative, who on a hot sticky day in July, decides to...say for example...walks towards down town manhattan or Times Square, and begins to verbally shout out through a mega phone to the nude people nearby, using such buzz words as: sinners, perverts, have you no shame, and all that other bunkola. In this scenario, The proper response in my opinion would be, is to do one of two things: Ignore it, or smile as you walk by. After a short time, the person doing all the shouting would eventually tire out, while feeling perhaps just a little embarrassed. Realising that he/she is the only one within at least a 5 mile radius, who's not only doing all the shouting, but also the only one who's wearing clothes in spite of his/her self. A turning of the tables if you will. I truly believe that there will come a time in our current material world, where people by the millions will seek out a more natural and wholesome way of life. The way things are going today, it wouldn't surprise me if it was to happen sooner than later. Sorry for the rant everyone, tonight for some reason I just felt like being a writer. If you got this far then congratulations and have yourself a cookie. Hope I didn't bore you to much. Have a nude one people.

Even if nudism was legalized, and we could be nude anywhere we wanted, there would be those who would protest it and work to eliminate it.
Just as one person had the Bible and prayer removed from schools.
Just as one student had a religious picture removed from a school wall. He was the only one offended by it.
It only takes one person to be offended and end something that's perfectly legal and moral.
Many people are and always will be offended by Christianity and do what they can to fight against it, and many people will always be offended by nudity because of purtanical beliefs that have been handed down since the beginning of man. I'm a Christian and a nudist. They can co-exist. Some will never accept nudity just as some won't accept Christianity. I hate to sound pessimistic, but as much as I would love to live in a would full of nudists, it's just a dream though a wonderful dream. There's nothing wrong with dreaming and even working to realize that dream.

Yah I know what you mean Jon, but scre those people who are offended. If they dont like it then they can stay inside. I am sick of people being so damn judgemental. To hell with them, if nudity is ever legalized, damn straight Id fight to keep it legal.

I agree, Luckyheart. I'm not saying nudity shouldn't be legalized, or that I don't want it to be; I do. I also say that those who don't like it can look the other way. I see photos on the INA website where nudists are strolling through a town as though it's accepted by everyone. Where are there towns like that? If I tried it in my city, I'd be arrested for "indecent exposure". I'd be sent to a shrink to be analysed to find try to find out why I would do such a
"perverted" thing. Though it's not impossible for this country to accept nudity as normal, which it certainly is anyway, I don't look for it to happen in my lifetime. There are things this world accepts as normal that aren't, which I won't go into, yet they fight so strongly against nudity which IS normal.

Smooth...
For the record, it was the Attorney General's office (John Ashcroft), and the statues were aluminum, not stone.
Regardless, it was a poor decision financed by taxpayer money.
Such is government...

Having met opposition in other posts and elsewhere, I must add here as well.
The issure of legal public nudism anytime and anywhere is a wonderful idea; one I fully support. But the question of local restrictions if nudity were legalized has been raised.
During the winter olympics, the satire news show "The Daily Show" reported on the wonderful state of Utah.
There is a city in Utah that has voted to ban the United Nations from entering thier soveriegn city. How they would enforce this is unknown.
There is another city in Utah where the citizens are required by law to carry a firearm at all times.
I know that the show is satirical, but the stories they present do have factual information... which is then made fun of.
How many other little "podunk" towns are there across this country?
If nudism were widely voted in, I can gaurantee that it would be restricted or even criminalized in some municipality somewhere.
That doesn't mean that I still wouldn't support it!
