My wife and I are going to be in Palm Springs within the next few weeks. Can somebody please recommend a clothes free resort for us to attend? My wife (who is fairly new to naturism and slightly nervous) would like to attend and/or stay at the "nicest" place in Palm Springs. We are fairly young (late 20's) and would like to hang out with similar aged people. Any suggestions? We appreciate your imput.

If you're looking for people more your age group then I would say Desert Shadows Resort and Villas.

But, you say your wife is alitte nervous, is this her first time at a nudist resort? If so, I would then recommend Terra Cotta Inn. Smaller, very friendly, and clothes optional, which means she can enjoy nudism in stages if she'd like.

A little bit older crowd at Terra Cotta, but its a couples only resort. No children, just cuz the owners feel that adults want to relax. And as I said, couples only. This is different at Desert Shadows because they allow singles in. It's not a bad thing but may be a deturent for your wife.

Terra Cotta is a great place for a first timer or the shy nervous nudist. Tom and Mary Clare are wonderful people, the owners, and Candy, their manager, is a sweetheart.

Try it, you'll like it!

Thank you so much for the input. We truly appreciate it. At this stage, we are leaning towards Desert Shadows for a couple of reasons. First, the facilities look really nice. Three swimming pools, tennis courts, etc. Secondly, we are really interested in meeting other young naturists. Either way, I am sure we can't go wrong!

Like I said in my previous post, my wife is a little nervous. However, she has, in fact, been to Black's Beach. We both had a great time and truly enjoyed the freedom of being without clothes.

What are the major differences (if any) between a nude beach and a club/resort? From our experience, although we had a great time at Black's, we could have done without all of the "gaukers" and people who did not disrobe. I am sure it is much more comfortable at a club/resort because most (if not all) of the people will actually be nude.

I would again appreciate any thoughts/comments! Thanks!

One of the biggest differences between a beach and a park is that a beach is public domain and a park is privately owned. That means that at a beach, anyone can go there and do whatever they feel like (as long as it is legal).

Parks have their own rules and regs and can throw people out for violating such rules. You will almost assuredly experience no gawking at a park and if you do, reporting them to management will more than likely solve the problem.

Good luck at DSI, if indeed you choose that one.

Chucky,

Bob pretty much hit the nail on the head. We have yet to visit Desert Shadows. We have some close nudist friends that have been and have talked to many people at Terra Cotta Inn that have visited and stayed at Desert Shadows. It is a nice resort, a bit more modern that Terra Cotta. More activities and a little more action than T C Inn. T C Inn is quite a bit more laid back and quiet.

I think you'll have a great time there. We plan on visiting Desert Shadows soon for the day. If we get there before you start your vacation, we'll post an updated report.

Have fun!!

If you liked Blacks Beach I think you would really like San Onofree State Beach. You drive all the way to the end of the road then when you get to the beach walk south till you see people without clothes. It is just south of San Clemente, CA or 20 miles north of Oceanside, CA
It is the best beach I have ever been to.

Another difference between beaches and resorts is the level of "social" privacy. A beach is public, like a mall, but you can spend time within mere feet of others and never interact if you choose not to.

Resort atmosphere is more like family, because virtually everyone trusts everyone else to be there for the same reasons. Thus, they are more open to social interaction (the true word for this is "intercourse," which doesn't seem appropriate here ) and spontaneous visiting happens much more readily. Locals will greet and welcome newcomers more so than on a beach, and will strive to make any "newbies" comfortable.

However, you've stated that you wish to meet other couples, so a resort is the better venue for this. The extra level of "safety" will cause your wife much less nervousness.

I agree that a Resort setting would be much better for the social aspect.
My experience with nude beachs, although they are fun in their own way, is that it's hard to get conversation started. People are sometimes a bit wary of strangers at beaches and just want some private time.
You have to be fairly outgoing to "Break the Ice" at a beach.
At a resort people usually are more open to socializing. Probably because they feel more comfortable in that setting.

Just a thought.

Chucky,

If you're ever down here for a while and want to visit San Onofre Beach, give us a heads up and we can direct you to a fun loving group. The Friends of San Onofre Beach is a group that watches over the beach, has picnics, get togethers and always makes first timers welcome and comfortable.

We frequent this beach numerous times throughout the year. Winter months you have to be spontaneous but you can catch some great weather and be laid out catching some sun, meeting some great people in Dec. and Jan. There is also a volleyball group not connected with "Friends" that are very friendly.

The nice part about this beach is that you can park yourself and your belongings near either of these groups and say hello to one another and if you feel like taking a long walk on the beach, you can feel at ease that your belongings will be looked after. Your wife can feel safe and comfortable knowing that regulars can pick out newbies and first timers and look after them to make sure gawkers don't pester. Another plus is that the regulars are very good at catching voyuers with cameras. We've caught a few and either exposed their film or made them delete the pictures on their digital cameras and then make them leave the beach. We want to preserve this beach for naturists and are protective of it and make sure the rules are enforced.

Most everyone on the beach looks out for one another. Lots of couples, and singles, more men than women most times, families, a real mix of age groups also.

Any other info on this beach, just let us know, we'll be happy to give it to you.
